Still following The Hamlet!
There was a nowadays rare appearance at Dulwich Hamlet match on Saturday for Ivor Bateman.
Most regular fans are more likely to know 'young' Malcolm Bateman, on the right, rather than his 92-year-old father Ivor...who was at the Village Glass Stadium up in deepest Essex at the weekend, in the match he has been looking forward to all season, after moving away from South London over seventeen years ago, to live in Witham!
I dread to think how many years Ivor has been following The Hamlet, but he's certainly handed down his love of our Club to his son Malcolm, who himself has been supporting Dulwich for over half a century, having been local boys in the past, on the Denmark Hill estate, behind the long since demolished Greendale public house.
Said Malcolm:
"It was great for my old dad to get to the game. Even though he doesn't get down to London much nowadays, he always asks me how we do, and loves the Club as much as me. Despite not getting the win he loved every minute of the match!"
