Sunday: Dulwich Hamlet v Denham United

Sunday: Dulwich Hamlet v Denham United

Our women's team play their first League game of 2020 this Sunday at Champion Hill

Having finished the calendar year at the top of the table, Dulwich Hamlet are back in action for their first League game of 2020 this Sunday as we take on Denham United at 2pm.

Dulwich put in an exhilarating displaying to defeat QPR 2-0 in December and went top of the London and South East Regional Women’s League. We will be looking to maintain that momentum against Denham, who currently sit 7th in the table.

Dulwich won 4-0 when the two sides met in the League last September and midfielder Rosie Stone, who has featured in every game so far this season, is confident that the Hamlet can get another positive result.

"Beating QPR at Champion Hill felt like a massive relief for us, especially having come so close to getting 3 points when we played away at their place," she says. "Obviously it was a very emotional game and we felt like we put in a performance Farouk would’ve been proud of."

"However, we are also aware that with QPR having two games in hand, winning the League is still very much dependent on the second half of the season going well for us. The first time we played Denham in the League we won comfortably, but we know from our recent game in the League Cup that we’ll have to be at our best to beat them."

Stone also talked about how the team has been preparing over for the game over winter, adding, "We’ve been working hard to maintain fitness levels over the Christmas break and training has felt really positive over the last few weeks."

"We’re very excited to get back playing at Champion Hill - it’s been a while, but hopefully we’ll be able to continue our unbeaten form at home in the League."

Tickets for the game are available on the day and cost £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and U13s go free.

Gates open at 12pm and the clubhouse bar will be serving drinks, with food options also available. Kick off is at 2pm.
