Sunday Football comes to Champion Hill as Dulwich Hamlet host London Sunday Trophy

Sunday morning sees East London battle it out with South London for the silverware.

This weekend Dulwich Hamlet are proud to have been selected by the London FA to host this year’s final of the London Sunday Trophy.

The match sees Asianos FC, Champions of the Independent South Essex Sunday Football League Premier Division square up against South London's Kenningwell United Reserves of the Orpington & Bromley District Sunday Football League Premier Division.

Asianos progress to the final began back in October with a 6-0 thrashing of Westminster Warriors in the first round. The goals kept coming as Aberdeen Supporters Club London Branch were their next victims, beaten 4-2. Another big win, this time 8-0 away to Putney Athletic into a quarter final tie away to Eltham Phoenix (B Team). More goals ensuing but more evenly shared as the game finished with the sides level at 3-apiece. A penalty shootout was required, Asianos prevailing after converting four of their spot kicks to their opponents two. The semi-final proved a much tighter affair with the two sides evenly matched throughout, with Islington’s Mustard eventually breached by a header two minutes from time.

Kenningwell United (Reserves) march to the final began with a walkover in the opening round when opponents Lividia scratched setting up a second round tie at home to Poplar Boys. Among the scorers in a 4-1 victory over the East London opposition was former Dulwich Hamlet player, Cedric Kabongo. Kabongo was again on the scoresheet in the third round as British Airways were downed 2-1. It was a less arduous task for the side playing out of Honor Oak Park in the quarter finals as Clerkenwell Old Boys were comprehensively turned over 6-1 to move into the semi-final There they faced Caribb winning through just as they emerged victorious 3-2 after extra time to progress to the final.

Kick-off is 10.30 am with admission prices £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
