Support NON LEAGUE DAY at Wembley!
Most Hamlet fans will be aware of the excellent work done by those behind the 'Non League Day' concept, in promoting the game at our level.
Non League Day usually focuses on one particular weekend, early in a season, to promote matches at our level, when there is a blank International weekend in the professional programme.
It was something that Dulwich Hamlet Football Club, through the hard work of the Club Committee in tandem with many of our fans, including the DHST, really embraced earlier this season when we worked alongside the 'Kick It Out' anti-discrimination & racism campaign, as well as local charities, when we held our first ever 'Pay What You Like' admission match. This resulted in a Champion Hill (current) Stadium record attendance of 2,856 when we hosted Hampton & Richmond Borough, and raised almost seven thousand pounds for the three featured charities.
So when the folk behind Non League Day recently announced that they want to make the forthcoming FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium between Wrexham & North Ferriby United into a 'non-league football festival' we, as a Football Club, are more than happy to swing right behind their idea, & encourage our fans to support the initiative.
James Doe, the founder of 'Non-League Day' explains more:
"The last five years have seen Non-League Day grow from being an event on Facebook to an annual national campaign which has grabbed the attention of clubs, leagues, the media and most importantly the fans.
As Non League Day has grown we’ve received many requests to run a second event during the season to get even more people involved. Given the huge amount of time and effort and to preserve the uniqueness of Non League Day, we’ve never really been able to entertain this idea but have thought about other ways we could do things.
Our favourite alternative was to create an event where, rather than send football fans to a wide variety of grounds around the country, we would encourage them to head to just one ground, bringing as many members of the non-league community together in the same place at the same time. We just weren’t quite sure how to do this.
It then came to our attention that this year’s FA Trophy Final is taking place on Sunday 29th March during the spring international break. Being on the Sunday, it allows fans of virtually every team in the country - whether they follow a club in the Premier League, Football League or non-league - to take part.
We have therefore partnered with The Football Association in an initiative to try and mobilise fans in a different way and bring as many of us together at the country’s national stadium for one of the non-league game’s most prestigious finals.
Tickets for the game are on sale now via the FA’s website with prices starting from as low as £10.
For group bookings of 15 or more, there is a further discount of 50% on all price categories.
We hope you like this idea and will think about joining us in trying to turn Wembley into the centre of the non-league football world for one afternoon on Sunday 29th March. "
Dulwich Hamlet committee member Mishi Morath added:
" I've been to many Trophy finals down the years, my first was in 1977, when Dagenham reached Wembley, to become the first Isthmian finalist, although they lost to Scarborough in that game. It's been many a non-league fans dream to see their team between the old twin towers, or nowadays under the famous arch. We might not have got there yet, but it would be great for a few of our fans to have a Pink & Blue presence on the day. The more fans from other clubs the better...it will all make a better occasion, friendships made, old ones strengthened...you never know who you will bump into. I, for one, will be going."
