Thamesmead Town 1-3 Dulwich Hamlet

Thamesmead Town 1-3 Dulwich Hamlet

The Hamlet got back to winning ways at Thamesmead with a brace of goals from Marcel Henry-Francis on his full debut.

The Hamlet line up showed a number of changes from Saturday's defeatwith Phil Wilson returning in goal, Ahmed Deen at left back and both Peter Adeniyi and Ian Daly moving to the bench to accommodate Marc-Anthony Okoye at centre half and Marcel henry-Francis up front.

The game opened evenly but it was Dulwich who were to establish a two goal lead by the 17th minute. The first goal arrived following a foul on Erhun Oztumer some 25 yards out. It was the diminutive playmaker who took the free kick and his vicious left foot strike beat Rob Budd in the 'Mead goal but crashed off the crossbar. Just as the home side thought they had escaped Mathieu Boyer lashed the rebound home,

At the other end Phil Wilson had to get down smartly to stop a free kick and it was from this that Dulwich moved down the other end and doubled their lead as a long ball found Erhun Oztumer in space and as he looked to be crowded out the ball was transferred to Marcel Henry-Francis who drove a right footed shot beyond the keeper.

However, Thamesmead quickly halved the deficit as a cross from their right caught Mathieu Boyer ball watching and Jon Main did not need a second invitation to head home from close range.

There was no further score before half-time although home keeper Budd was forced into a good save just prior to the break.

The Hamlet were quickly into their stride in the second half and Nyren Clunis came close early on as he was foiled by a combination of defender and keeper.

On 56 minutes Dulwich re-established their two goal cushion as Marcel Henry-Francis was sent away down the left and his cross hot whilst well hit should have been comfortably saved. However, it slipped through the keeper's grasp and in off the far post.

The remainder of the game saw Dulwich dominate as Henry-Francis whistled a shot just wide after being put clear to the right of goal. Nyren Clunis was again foiled and Mathieu Boyer and Ian Daly both went close from corners.

At the other end, Thamesmead rarely threatened and Phil Wilson enjoyed a comfortable second half as the Dulwich defence dealt comfortably with the rare threats posed by the home attack and with calmer finishing could well have run out more comfortable winners than the 3-1 scoreline.

Further good news is that Xavier Vidal continued his comeback from injury with a solid last 25 minutes.
