THE CAMBERWELL FREE FILM FESTIVAL RETURNS TO CHAMPION HILL
Friday 28th March sees the showing of "Once in a Lifetime", a gripping documentary about the rise and fall of the New York Cosmos, screening at 8.00pm
Once In a Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos (Director: Paul Crowder, John Dower, 2006, Cert: 15, 97 minutes). While most teams in the USA’s NASL had only limited success at best, one did manage to break through to genuine mainstream popularity — the New York Cosmos. They had a rocky start but things changed when the world’s most celebrated soccer star, the Brazilian champion Pele, signed with the Cosmos for a five million dollar payday. With the arrival of Pele, the Cosmos became a hit with both fans and the media, and the players became the toast of the town, earning their own private table at the infamous nightclub Studio 54.
This is a FREE event. No tickets required, arrive early to get the best seats. Doors open at 7.00 pm.
