The first genuine DULWICH DERBY for over a hundred years!

The first genuine DULWICH DERBY for over a hundred years!

That is the mouthwatering prospect for the May Bank Holiday afternoon on Monday 6th May at Champion Hill with a 3.00pm kick off

The Hamlet will be fielding a side to play host to Kent County Leaguers Dulwich Village FC, in a friendly match being staged to raise money for the local 'Southwark News' Evelina Childrens Hospital appeal.

Gavin Rose had no hesitation in agreeing to field a side for the charity match, despite being slap bang in the middle of organising our tilt at the title.

The initial plan was to play host to our tenants Fisher FC, from the Hurlimann Kent League Premier Division, but after we invited them they theirleague was then extended, and then read in the 'Southwark News' that they had a re-arranged Kent League fixture to fulfil on the same day at Beckenham Town.

So we spoke to Dulwich Village, & they were delighted to accept our offer, with the full blessing of the HAART Kent County league, who, by coincidence, are also sponsored by HAART estate agents like ourselves.

The entire day will be a fundraiser for the Evelina charity, with all money raised being handed over. Admission will be £5 for adults, a mere quid for concessions and under twelves can watch the match for free.

We shall also hold a raffle at the game, and any donations of prizes for this are welcomed. Just speak to Mishi Morath about this, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
A small programme shall also be printed for the match, at a pound each to boost the fund.

Pre-match, still being finalised this week, we are hoping to stage two exhibition junior matches, from two of the DULWICH HAMLET JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB age groups, at 12.30pm & at 1.30pm, against their counterparts from Dulwich Village FC, to make it a real community day.

The fun doesn't finish there because at half-time in the 'big boys' game Dulwich Hamlet Supporters' have laid down the challenge to the 'Southwark News' brigade to take our fans on in a penalty shoot-out!

You will also get the chance to PLAY in the match, as we are planning to auction off a place in the Dulwich Hamlet team for the afternoon, with the two highest bidders enjoying a full part with the squad, pre-match & in the dressing rooms, with half a game each on the pitch! Watch this space for further details!
There will be no "12th Man" bucket collection at this game, as the focus is on the Evelina Appeal.

but in the evening, post-match, starting at seven o'clock the "12th Man" organisers are taking over the Clubhouse for their own event, the Dulwich Hamlet Player of the Year presentations. Tickets are on sale for this already from Neil Cole & Shaun Dooley.

So keep Monday May 6th Bank Holiday Monday free in your diaries.
A splendid day beckons for two great causes-
