The Hamlet Appear In Non-League Book
Martin Cooper includes the club in book about his season-long trip around non-league grounds in London
The Hamlet are back in print, with the club featured in non-league book Football Matters In The Capital.
Jounalist and football supporter Martin Cooper spent the 2022-23 season exploring the non-league world in the capital, visiting new stadiums, meeting new people and sampling the unique atmosphere lower league matches can generate. This included a trip to the Hamlet for our game with Slough Town here last August.
Aside from us, the other clubs that feature in the book are: Barnet, Corinthian-Casuals, Cray Wanderers, Dagenham & Redbridge, Enfield Town, Erith Town, Fisher, Haringey Borough, Hendon, Metropolitan Police, Tooting & Mitcham United, Uxbridge and Wealdstone.
Match day journeys, stadium aesthetics and facilities, atmospheres, fans and historical anecdotes are all featured in the book, with the games Martin attended being filled with passion and enthusiasm, as many of the sides were either striving for promotion or battling relegation.
Martin has previously written a book called Football Matters, which focussed on non-league football in Kent during the curtailed season of 2019-20. Football Matters in the Capital is available from all good book shops including Amazon.
