The newspaper round-up
A little later than usual, as I was away watching football in the Netherlands last week!
In the 'Non League Paper', from just over a week ago the big top of the table clash at Canvey Island was their main feature on the ryman Premier pages:
GOAL KING DAN SENDS GAV'S BOYS TO THE SUMMITDulwich leapfrogged Canvey Island to top the league, bringing the Gulls' seven-match winning streak crashing to an end.
The prolific Dan Sweeney and striker Jacob Erskine put Gavin Rose's Hamlet in first-half control.
But Glenn Poole's unstoppable 30-yard free-kick brought the hosts storming back into the game, setting up a fraught final quarter for the South Londoners.
Canvey should have taken the lead on 17 minutes when Martin Tuohy latched onto an under hit back pass from left back Jordan Brown.
Tuohy attempted to round Phil Wilson but the keeper got an out-stretched arm to the ball and saved the strikers follow up effort.
Dulwich went in front on 25 minutes.
Gulls keeper Conor Gough made a fine save but his colleagues failed to deal with the resultant corner and left Dan Sweeney with a tap-in for his fith goal in as many starts since joining from Kingstonian.
The lead was doubled on37 minutes when Ashley Carew fired goalwards, defender Lawrence Yiga scuffed his attempted clearance straight to Erskine.
And the Hamlet frontman kept his composure to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
Canvey pulled a goal back in the 51st minute in spectacular fashion after Jordan Brown conceded a free kick 30 yards after a foul on Tambeson Eyong.
Veteran midfielder Poole stepped up and struck an unstoppable effort into the top corner to put his side right back in the contest.
But despite dominating the second half they were unable to force an equaliser.
Both managers had contrasting views on the proverbial game of two halves.
Canvey manager Danny Heale told The NLP: "I was pleased with the performance today, especially in the second half which we dominated. We gave away two soft goals which was disappointing, and after getting our goal we were unfortunate not to get a second. We had a string of near misses and there were a number of good saves from their keeper."
Dulwich boss Rose said: "I thought we controlled the game in the first half and could have gone in at half time with more than the two goals we scored. I thought Phil Wilson could have done better for their goal, and after that they threw bodies forward which made life difficult for us. But in the end we picked up three points against another team around the top of the division which could prove valuable come the end of the season."

The Tuesday midweek 'South London Press' concentrated on The Hamlet going top of the table:
Dulwich sitting pretty after ousting leadersDulwich Hamlet moved to the top of the Ryman Premier Division table with a 2-1 victory at Canvey Island on Saturday.
The South Londoners' plus-18 goal difference puts them at the summit ahead of tonight's home game against Merstham.
Hamlet have six victories in their last eight outings and ended Canvey's seven-match winning streak.
Dan Sweeney forced home Ashley Carew's corner in the 24th minute and Jacob Erskine extended their advantage.
A Glenn Poole free-kick put canvey back in the contest and Hamlet keeper Phil Wilson made a number of important saves.
Come Thursday & it's the goalscoring machine Dan the Man getting the headlines in the weekly 'Southwark News':
SWEENEY SWOOPS AGAIN TO DEFEAT CANVEY
Hamlet midfielder Dan Sweeney continued his astonishing scoring run as Dulwich defeated Canvey Island 2-1 at the weekend.
Sweeney joined the Champion Hill club earlier this month from Kingstonian and made a goal scoring debut against Farnborough Town.
Last Saturday was his fifth outing for the Pink and Blues and he scored a critical goal, continuing a pattern where he has scored in every appearance he has made for Hamlet so far.
Jacob Erskine also netted for Dulwich to give them a 2-0 half time lead away from home, and although Glenn Poole pulled a goal back for Canvey after the restart Dulwich still came out on top.
The win in the table topping clash saw Hamlet go top of the Ryman Premier League leapfrogging Canvey and Leiston, who lost 1-0 to Kingstonian on Saturday.
On Tuesday night against Merstham Sweeney scored for the sixth consecutive game as Dulwich ran out 4-0 winners at Champion Hill.
Further goals from Rhys Murrell-Williamson, Calum Willock and Nyren Clunis also ensured Hamlet maintain top spot, although they have played more games than some of their rivals.
This weekend Dulwich are in FA Trophy action against Harrow Borough. The away fixture kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.
They follow this up with a London County Cup game next Tuesday at Champion Hill. The contest against Erith & Belvedere starts at 7.45pm.
Hamlet's under eighteen side have made it to the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup where they will take on Met Police. The game takes place next Monday at Imber Court at 7.45pm.
And, finally, to the weekend copy of the 'South London Press', which was on sale on Friday, with 'guess who' once more making the headline?
Sweeney nets again as Dulwich stay topDulwich Hamlet remained top of the Ryman League Premier Division table with a fine 4-0 win over Merstham at Champion Hill on Tuesday.
The South Londoners were 3-0 up at the break. Rhys Murrell-Williamson ran the ball from his own half to get them off and running on the quarter-hour mark.
Callum Willock and Nyren Clunis added to that before half-time, with new midfielder Dan Sweeney netting after the interval to cap off the win.
It was Sweeney's sixth goal in the six games since joining the club and boss Gavin Rose raved about his impact.
"We have been able to play him in a more advanced position to benefit him and us," Rose said. "We didn't think he would score this many but we knew he would have a positive impact. We played really well. We had a great balance between defence and attack and were clinical in the first half. We wanted to make sure we didn't go gung ho in the second half as the result was more or less assured. We controlled it well. It's a big challenge to the players to keep us top. A couple of teams below has to have games in hand which we can't really do anything about so all we can do is focus on keeping winning and seeing where it takes us."
Dulwich are in action against Harrow Borough in the FA Trophy tomorrow. Rose admits there may be changes but is being careful not to spoil his side's momentum. "A few players have played back-to-back games so some might drop to the bench to give them a rest and give a chance to one or two but there won't be wholesale changes," he said. "We want the side to stay in the groove and not let the performances become unpredictable."
