THIS AFTERNOON’S MATCH PREVIEW – BOGNOR REGIS (HOME)
This afternoon's see Champion Hill welcome in-form Bognor Regis Town, the scene set for a an epic clash...
Time to rock the Hill as Bognor Regis Town make the long journey up from the south coast for a mouth-watering clash between the table toppers and the division’s most in-form team of late.
Coming into this afternoon’s game on the back of back-to-back defeats that have stymied Dulwich’s efforts to put a bit of daylight between themselves and the chasing pack, the boys in Pink and Blue could not have been pitted against more demanding opposition. Just one defeat in their last eight outings since a Boxing Day Sussex derby victory over Lewes has seen the Rocks power into as playoff position, rising to fourth spot on Tuesday night as Terry Dodd’s penalty put paid to the Essex Boys from Billericay.
Mention of the work penalty though must still something in the blood of the Hamlet for when the two sides met at Nyewood Lane back in early November the game was turned on its head by a much-debated spot kick award in the dying moments of the match. Having fallen behind to Arron Hopkinson’s 66th minute goal Dulwich had established themselves in the ascendancy within 10 minutes as Dean Lodge grabbed a sublime brace. However, with just three minutes left on the clock, the man in black threw the hosts a lifeline when he adjudged that Ben Johnson had been impeded by Mathieu Boyer in the box. A bemused Boyer was dismissed, Johnson reaped the reward as he converted the spot kick and the scene was set for the recharged Rocks to snatch all three points in a scenario that stunned all, Terry Dodd and Craig Robson taking advantage of Dulwich’s decimation by adding further goals in stoppage time for a victory that had seemed improbable just five minutes earlier.
This afternoon’s game kicks off at 3.00 pm at Champion Hill Stadium, Edgar Kail Way, East Dulwich, London SE22 8BD.
The turnstiles will be open from approximately 12.30 pm with refreshment facilities available in the ground for early arrivals. As a healthy crowd is expected, why not avoid the late rush and relax.
