THIS AFTERNOON’S MATCH PREVIEW – BROMLEY (HOME)

No easy start for pre-season as Dulwich Hamlet welcome Bromley's Ravens to Champion Hill for first game...

Most managers might want to gently ease themselves into a new campaign but not Gavin Rose as Dulwich Hamlet crack into preseason with the visit of Conference South title challengers, Bromley this afternoon. The Ravens already have a one preseason match under their belt, that a narrow 1-0 home defeat at Hayes Lane against a strong Dagenham and Redbridge squad. Bromley will be looking to go into the coming season on a high after the disappointments of last term’s playoff capitulation in the semi-finals, 4-1 over two legs at the hands of Kent rivals Ebbsfleet. Manager Mark Goldberg has been busy using his old recruitment skills to retain much of the team that did so well in the regular season only to slip up so badly at the penultimate hurdle postseason. In addition he badly a plethora of flesh blood, pulling in a number of new faces including speedy wingman Moses Ademola from Dover Athletic and forward Adam Birchall. Birchall began his career at Arsenal but will be remembered by many supporters as the striker who scored 64 goals in 78 appearances for Dover Athletic between 2007 and 2009, before signing for Gillingham.

For Dulwich it will be a new dawn, the first full campaign under new ownership, and the first for some time without the talismanic Peter Adeniyi gracing the field. Also absent will be the mercurial Erhun Öztümer, whose blistering displays and gaggle of glorious goals saw him become the latest to step off the Dulwich production line to sample the heady heights of league football at Peterborough United. Never one to rest on his laurels Rose bid farewell to a number of players but filled their boots with some notable arrivals. These include three players from Conference South play-off winners Dover Athletic, former West Ham youngster Terrell Forbes, a rock the heart of the Kent club’s defence as well as Crabble teammates Michael Kamara and Ashley Carew. More experience came with the arrival of Dean McDonald, an attacking midfielder / striker with an an uncanny eye for goal and Ashley Robinson, a quicksilver wingman with a sledgehammer shot who will be up against one of his former teams today.

This afternoon’s game kicks off at 3.00 pm at Champion Hill Stadium, Edgar Kail Way, East Dulwich, London SE22 8BD.
The turnstiles will be open from approximately 12.30 pm with refreshment facilities available in the ground for early arrivals. As a healthy crowd is expected, why not avoid the late rush and relax. Before the game enjoy a drink or snack in our cosy clubhouse with live sport on the big screens, conveniently situated just a short walk from the turnstiles?
