THIS EVENING’S MATCH PREVIEW – EASTBOURNE TOWN (AWAY) RYMAN LEAGUE CUP
Midweek South Coast jaunt awaits the Hamlet as Ryman League Cup kicks into gear..
Dulwich will be looking to put last weekend’s Maidstone mutilation behind them when they make the long trip down to the south coast this evening and the Saffrons, home of Eastbourne Town. The Sussex side have oft proved basement battlers in the Ryman League South but have continued to plug away whilst more of their fellow countymen have slipping back beneath the waves after a brief sojourn in the Isthmian. Horsham YMCA, Crowborough and their ilk, Whitehawk’s engorged coffers notwithstanding, have already risen from the Sussex County League to briefly touch the sun before, like Icarus, plugging back to ground in flames. For that doggedness credit must be due to boss Danny Bloor, once in charge at Worthing, who has been snaffling up young local talent to blend with hardened local stalwarts to produce a side readying itself for a challenge on the promotion front. This term already sees them scaling the heady heights of sixth spot just a single victory away from current leaders Crawley Down in a tight division that sees Dulwich just a couple of points further back, albeit in the bottom half of the table!
With the Youth Team at home tomorrow night in the final qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup tomorrow (Thursday 18th October, KO 7.45 pm), Gavin Rose will find himself somewhat restricted in his squad options, though the likes of striker Dominic Weston might find themselves given an outing this evening and perhaps Rose himself may make a return!
This evenings game kinks off at 7.45 pm and takes place at The Saffrons, Compton Place Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 1EA, directions here. Remember, tonight’s game must be settled at the first attempt with the match going straight to penalties at the end of 90 minutes should that be required.
