THIS WEEKEND’S MATCH PREVIEW – KINGSTONIAN (HOME)
After a long spell on the road, it’s back to Champion Hill for Dulwich Hamlet’s first competitive home fixture in a month as we welcome Kingstonian
Following their long tour of Kent, Essex and the outer suburbs, Dulwich Hamlet finally make it back to their home patch with the K’s their guests this afternoon.
After a promising start to the campaign that saw the Surrey side first out of the traps with a 5-2 win away to Enfield, the season has slipped away somewhat alarmingly for the K’s. Despite being rocked by the unanticipated resignation of much-admired manager Alan Dowson, Kingstonian were still expected to be among the challengers for promotion. However they have slumped away in recent weeks, shorn of guile and firepower in the forward ranks. While the defence remains solid, that 2nd spot in 2013/14 was largely down to the 60 goals provided by Andre McCollin, recently snapped up by Aldershot, and Ryan Moss (now on board the gravy train with Margate).
Recent results have seen few bright spots, valiance in a narrow defeat at home to Eastbourne Borough of Conference South that ended their interest in the FA Cup stands out most, coupled with the lows of an early FA Trophy exit away to Barkingside of Ryman North. If the league home form could be called consistent, it would be consistently frustrating for the fans that is, with four of their last games at Kingsmeadow ending 1-0 to the opposition. Away from home the form guide looks a little rosier for manager Tommy Williams with five wins from eight outings though dig a little deeper and the stats become skewed by the fact that, since a 4-1 defeat at Maidstone on the 9th of September, cup commitments mean Kingstonian have travelled a paltry three times in the league, winning at Peacehaven & Telscombe and Witham Town and going down 2-0 to Margate five weeks ago.
This Saturday’s (29th November) game kicks off at 3.00 pm at Champion Hill Stadium, Edgar Kail Way, East Dulwich, London SE22 8BD.
The turnstiles will be open from approximately 12.45 pm with refreshment facilities available in the ground for early arrivals.
