THIS WEEKEND’S MATCH PREVIEW – MET POLICE (HOME)

THIS WEEKEND’S MATCH PREVIEW – MET POLICE (HOME)

Indifferent form inflicts both sides as Dulwich and the Police cross swords at Champion Hill with promotion in the sights of both.

Wednesday night’s frustrating reverse at Lewes’ Dripping Pan may have stymied Dulwich’s title aspirations but make no bones about it the lads will be itching to get back to winning ways when the Met Police come to town on Saturday afternoon.

After an undistinguished start to the season the boys in blue have steadily climbed the table from early doors in the lower reaches to a high spot of fourth just a few weeks ago. That came on the back of a tow month unbeaten run that began with a 2-0 victory over current leaders Maidstone United at Imber Court back in late November.

The surge up the table was only curtailed at the end of January when Darnell Wynter popped up to back an 88th minute winner for newly resurgent Enfield Town, the E’s becoming the first team to shutting out their opponents resist the Police force since Lewes back in late October.

In their last outing, two weeks ago, the Police attack again failed to find its target as they were swept aside by Craig Edwards' Billericay Town with last Saturday’s encounter with title chasing Margate falling foul of the weather after the normally immaculate Imber Court surface was inundated by heavy overnight rain.

Ahead of the match, Blues’ manager finds himself shy of a goalkeeper or two with veteran Stuart Searle, who so adeptly denied the Hamlet in our 2-0 FA Trophy defeat there, suffering whiplash after a car accident and Dulwich Hamlet, one match wonder, Billy Grainger out with a pulled muscle. The coppers’ likely number one between the sticks will be Craig King, on loan from Luton Town.
Cooper was sanguine when he spoke to This is Local London saying: "Dulwich will be a tough game. There are no two ways about it, they are a good side.

"The difference between their dips in form and ours is that when they dip they lose one game and then win the next three.

"We have had some games postponed recently, which means we have a lot of games to fit in.

"Results have gone our way, so we are still right up there with some games in hand. We are in a good position; we just need to get back to winning matches."
