A much changed Dulwich side, both in formation and personnel, was unable to turn dominance into goals and fell at the semi final stage. They were also on the wrong end of a number of controversial decisions by the officials.
Dulwich started slowly and it was little surprise when Akrofi put the home side in front in the 9th minute. A cross from the Dulwich right found him unmarked in front of goal and he had the simple task of firing home.
However, this seemed to spark Dulwich into life and a Sulaiman Bah cross was deflected over the bar, whilst Dumebi Dumaka got above Henley in the home goal but couldn't direct his header on target.
Dulwich could have gone further behind in the 24th minute when Mohamed Mohamed gave away a free kick and the effort struck the outside of the post with Preston Edwards stranded.
However, within two minutes Dulwich were level. Ibra Sekajja was brought down 20 yards out and Kenny Beaney fired the resulting free kick past Henley.
This was the cue for Dulwich to dominate proceedings and they should have been playing against 10 men from the 31st minute. A ball into the box saw Dumebi Dumaka get beyond his marker and, as he was about to head goalwards from inside the six yard box, he was dragged down by Liam Smith.
Whilst the referee awarded the penalty, everybody was astonished when he brandished just a yellow card for what was a clear goalscoring opportunity. Ibra Sekajja stepped up to take the spot kick but Henley saved his effort low to his right.
With half time approaching, Sekajja had a spectacular overhead kick that flew over the bar following a Panutche Camara effort that was blocked.
Half Time 1-1
Tonbridge introduced their regular centre forward, Nathan Elder, from the bench at the start of the second half and he gave them a 50th minute lead. Akrofi chased a through ball that was punched clear by Preston Edwards but resulted in an injury to Akrofi. With Dulwich now on the attack, the referee called a halt to attend to Akrofi.
He then restarted play with a drop ball that was contested and the ball broke to Akrofi who crossed for Elder to head home.
Dulwich went looking for another equaliser and Angels captain Sonny Miles was relieved to see his deflexion on an Ibra Sekajja cross take the ball just wide. From the resulting corner, Harly Wise saw his header cleared off the line.
Dulwich tried to find a way back into the game and Dulwich fans believed they should have had another penalty when Dumaka, having fallen trying to get on the end of a cross, was then clearly shoved to the ground as he regained his feet.
With 14 minutes to play Tonbridge secured their place in the final. Kenny Beaney lost the ball in midfield and it was quickly played over the top for Akrofi to poke the ball past Preston Edwards.
Dulwich were certainly not getting the rub of the green and a clear shove in the back stopped Tomlin being able to turn and shoot on goal.
With Tonbridge now content to pack the defence, Dumaka saw an effort well saved by Henley and Camara fired too high whilst a number of good crossing opportunities were unable to yield further chances.
Final Score 3-1
