TOOTING & MITCHAM UTD 0-2 DULWICH HAMLET

TOOTING & MITCHAM UTD 0-2 DULWICH HAMLET

Dulwich moved level on points with leaders Maidstone Utd with a comfortable victory in the big local derby.

Second half goals from Ellis Green and an own goal gave Dulwich a comfortable derby victory as the title race took another twist with Maidstone's defeat at Sittingbourne.

The large and boisterous Dulwich following enlivened a first half that had little goalmouth action. Despite being on top for long periods The Hamlet could not carve out any clear chances.

Connor French hit a thunderous drive as he turned his marker but it whistled over the bar, whilst an Ahmed Deen free kick brought a save from Tooting custodian Darren Behcet.

However it was new Hamlet keeper Chico Ramos who produced the best save of the half as he blocked a well hit drive that flew through a crowd of bodies.

Dulwich made one change at the start of the second half with Xavier Vidal replacing Josh Turner with Luke Hickie moving to right back. The half was only just over 20 seconds old when Erhun Oztumer found space on the left and delivered a cross that was headed home by Ellis Green and from that moment on Dulwich took control of proceedings.

With Kevin James prompting from midfield and Luke Hickie shutting out any threat from the Tooting left the result never seemed in doubt. In fact Chico Ramos was only called into action once in the half when he comfortably tipped over a long range effort.

On 75 minutes it was game over as Ellis Green tormented the Tooting left back before delivering a cross that was destined for Connor French but didn't reach him as the Tooting centre half intercepted it but could only head past a stranded Darren Behcet in the Tooting goal.

This and the news from Sitfingbourne was the cue for wild celebrations amongst the Dulwich fans massed behind the goal.

The final 15 minutes saw little action of note as the lead never came under any threat.
