Tooting & Mitcham Utd 3-0 Dulwich Hamlet
Dulwich's performance must rank as one of the worst of Gavin Rose's time in charge as they meekly surrendered to their lower division rivals.
A strong Dulwich line up failed to force a save from Tooting keeper Matt Pierson in 90 minutes as Tooting booked their place in the final of the London Senior Cup.
Dulwich had nearly all of the early play but created nothing of note. A dangerous cross from Rhys Murrell-Williamson could not find anybody attacking it in the box & Jack Dixon headed wide from a corner.
At the other end, Preston Edwards had only one comfortable save to make before Tooting took a 19th minute lead. Danny Waldren lost the ball midway inside the Tooting half, the ball then being played wide to their left. The attacker was allowed to turn inside and deliver a cross that the unmarked Ashley Robinson was allowed to head home.
Dulwich went close to levelling in the 26th minute. Matt Drage delivered a long diagonal free kick in to the box, Mitchell Nelson beat Pierson but his header was hacked off the line.
The home side went close again when a cross from their right was volleyed wide, whilst for The Hamlet Rhys Murrell-Williamson embarked on a run from his own half but was dispossessed on the edge of the box
Half Time 1-0
Things got little better in the second half as Dulwich struggled to convert their chances into clear goal scoring opportunities. Ryan Moss won a header from a Murrell-Williamson cross but nobody could capitalise.
Tooting went close from a free kick just outside the penalty area before Dulwich somehow spurned a chance to draw level. Nyren Clunis put a low cross from the right that Jack Dixon somehow put over the top from inside the six yard box.
Tooting doubled their lead in the 69th minute when an innocuous long ball forward was met with a mistake that presented Serge Makofo with a clear run on goal. He rolled the ball past Edwards and just inside the far post.
With ten minutes remaining remaining Nelson met a free kick at the far post and nodded back across goal, but Ryan Moss slipped at the crucial moment and the chance went begging.
Gus Sow then had a gilt edged chance but blasted over when presented with a clear sight of goal before the home side emphasised their superiority with a third goal.
A quick break caught Dulwich with players upfield and a fine through ball left Chace O'Neill one on one with Edwards to add the third.
The final whistle was greeted with a chorus of boos from amongst the normally placid 300+ visiting fans in a very rare show of dissent at the team's performance.
Final Score 3-0
