TRAVELLING TO TONBRIDGE THIS SATURDAY
Making your way to the big Ryman League Premier Division 'Match of the Day' at Longmead on Saturday?
Due to planned engineering work taking place between London Cannon Street/London Charing Cross and Charlton/New Cross in connection with the Thameslink Programme over the Christmas and New Year period there are a number of changes to trains running to Tonbridge this Saturday. There will be no Southeastern services at London Cannon Street, London Charing Cross, London Waterloo East or London Bridge stations. Trains will be diverted to either London Victoria or London Blackfriars.
Fortunately for Dulwich Hamlet fans this means services to Tonbridge are being diverted to run from London Blackfriars. Trains departing London Blackfriars at xx:57 & xx:27 will call additionally at Elephant & Castle (xx:00) and Denmark Hill (xx:06) then run fast to Lewisham (xx:17), calling at a number of immediate stops including Hither Green and Grove Park. Sorry to say these trains DO NOT stop at Peckham Rye or Nunhead! There are also a number of fast trains running from Blackfriars fast to Orpington, Sevenoaks then Tonbridge.
Alternatively, there are trains running out of London Victoria every half-hour (xx:31 & xx:01) calling at Bromley South (xx:55 & xx:25). To plan your journey in advance it is advised you visit the National Rail website here
From Tonbridge Station it’s a good 1½ to 2 mile walk to the Longmead Stadium, though there a number of hostelries on the way in which to partake of refreshment. Bus routes 218 & 219 from the station run down Darenth Avenue. Alternatively, taxis are available at the station.
