On Tuesday night, against Thamesmead Town, there were two long distance visitors in the ground, from way up north, coming from Preston

We were pleased to welcome Mick & Kathy Bell, who were in London on a short break, & decided to include Champion Hill on their itinary!

Keen football fans, who actually follow Sheffield Wednesday & Fleetwood Town, they saw The Hamlet reach the final of the Isthmian League Cup after a penalty shoot-out.

Mick informed us, sadly, of the recent death of an old Hamlet fan, Len Thorne,77, who left East Dulwich many years ago, having grown up on the estate across the ground. He said that Len never lost his love of the Hamlet & the cortege at his funeral was predominantly pink and blue.

Len first moved to Northampton, & later settled Preston, where he lived with his son.
