We want your booty!

We want your booty!

Football boots to be exact! One Dulwich Hamlet fan is appealing for your old boots to send to Africa where they are in desperate demand.

Dulwich supporter JAMES VIRGO is appealing for Hamlet fans & supporters alike to bring any old unwanted pairs of boots down to the ground for our next two home games, commencing with our big season opener at home to Canvey Island on Saturday.

Virgo, pictured above with The Hamlet's First team player/coach Kevin James donating boots, heard of the scheme through a long-standing friend of his called Sean Kinsella, who he has known for over twenty years. Sean is a missionary, and also a professor at a University in Kampala, Uganda.

James told us here at the official Dulwich Hamlet website:

" There must be lots of Dulwich Hamlet fans with old boots lying about in cupboards, maybe a bit tatty, or caked in old mud. But as long as they're wearable we don't mind what condition they're in. I'm not setting a target on how many we can donate from Champion Hill...even if it's only a few pairs they still make a huge difference to a student over there. Many of them play in odd trainers or bare-footed! Your old boots would make their day. Don't chuck 'em...donate them! Kids ones are welcome too, if your children have outgrown them...as i'm sure they can be passed on to local schools over there too"

Boots can be left this coming Saturday (8th August) when Dulwich Hamlet are at home to Canvey Island, with either Mishi Morath, before the match when he is selling 50/50 tickets; or with Shaun Dooley, at the "12th Man" table, once the game kicks off.

If you cannot make the match on Saturday, but would like to help James' appeal to get old boots to Africa then there will be another opportunity, when we are at home to Thamesmead Town on Tuesday 18th August, in the Robert Dyas League Cup.

Alternatively, in you live fairly local to the ground, anywhere across South London really, we can arrange a convenient time to pick a pair (or even pairs if you get your family, friends & neighbours to help) from your house on an evening, at your convenience, by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The deadline will be the Thamesmead game, as Sean is heading back to Uganda a few days after that.

In anticipation, thank you to all of your for your support.
