Weekend Roundup from the Dulwich Hamlet / ASPIRE Academy Youth Teams
A wet and winless Valentine's Day for the ASPIRE Academy coached Youth Teams as Kent Youth League Challenge Cup assault is put on hold for seven days.
The weather took its toll on this weekend with only the Under 15s able to beat the weather if not the odds as they suffered a 6-0 reverse to their counterparts from Whyteleafe on the artificial 3G pitch at Church Road.
Elsewhere the Under 18s KitToFit Challenge Cup quarter final tie at Rutland Walk at home to Margate, a reverse of the clubs’ meeting in the FA Youth Cup earlier this season was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. That fixture will now be played this coming Sunday 21st February at the same venue kicking off at 11.00 am. The victors in this tie will travel to the eventual winners of Sittingbourne quarter final with either Hollands & Blair or Folkestone Invicta.
The Under 16 were also washed out as their Kent Youth League North Division tie with Meridian VP was postponed. The game has now been rearranged for Sunday 3rd April with a 2.00 pm kick-off scheduled.
Similarly, in the Under 14s North, the top vs bottom matchup that saw Dulwich Hamlet due to travel to Crayford Arrows was lost to a waterlogged pitch. A new date for that tie has yet to be cast.
Over in the SELKENT League, the Dulwich derby, Hamlet vs Village, saw the Villagers victorious by the odd goal in five as ASPIRE Dulwich Hamlet Under 12s were beaten 2-3 at home by Dulwich Village Black.
