What our papers said...

What our papers said...

Time for the weekly round-up from our two local newspapers-though it has to be said...it won't take long this week.

Just the briefest of brief mentions in the midweek edition of the 'South London Press', back on Tuesday, in their non-league column:

"Dulwich Hamlet sit in third following a 3-3 draw at Burgess Hill Town. Erhun Oztumer scored twice-once from the penalty spot-and Lewis Gonsalves also netted for the South Londoners."

Moving on to yesterday, there were just small columns for both ourselves, & our minor Kent League tenants Fisher FC, in the weekly 'Southwark News'. Though it does show that they diligently look at Hamlet Pitchero, as the lead comment about us, was on the supporters scheme being launched, to boost the budget of Gavin Rose:

Hamlet fans create '12th man'

An innovative scheme labeled 'Dulwich Hamlet 12th Man' is asking fans to dig deep into their pockets to help bolster Gavin Rose's playing squad.
With the playing budget tighter than ever at Champion Hill the fans have taken things into their own hands to lend financial support to Rose, in addition to their voices and presence at games.
The scheme simply asks supporters to donate what they can afford by setting up regular payments with the club, or by simply throwing loose change into buckets at home fixtures.
Shaun Dooley, one of the schemes organisers, said: "We are here to add to the set budget for Gavin. We are not here to make up shortfalls in it, if & when they arise."
He added: "Your pound a week can make all the difference. I am going to drink one pint a week less, and hand over the cost of thsat. It's hardly a hardship, if you think of it that way."
If you want more information about the '12th Man' scheme visit the news section of the Dulwich Hamlet website.
On the pitch Hamlet played out a 3-3 draw away at Burgess Hill Town last Saturday with Erhun Oztumer bagging two goals either side of a Lewis Gonsalves effort.
The result leaves Dulwich in third place in the Ryman League South, three points off leaders Maidstone United.
Hamlet will take on Herne Bay twice in four days at Champion Hill starting with a league fixture on Saturday, at 3pm, followed by a League Cup game on Tuesday at 7.45pm.

The weekend copy of the 'South London Press' published today had less non-league coverage than usual, with more space being handed over to the forthcoming FA Cup tie between the former holders MK Dons, & the fans backed outfit, AFC Wimbledon, from Kingston-upon-Thames, in Surrey.

But Dulwich still featured as the top headline, in the non-league column:

Gavin: There is more to come from Hamlet

Gavin Rose has admitted his Dulwich Hamlet side are yet to hit anywhere near top form this season ahead of tomorrow's home game against Herne Bay, writes Richard Cawley.
The Champion Hill outfit are third in Ryman Division One South, three points behind leaders Maidstone. Rose said: "We've not hit the level the boys are capable of, if I'm totally blunt. Individually and as a group they have a lot more to give. It hasn't been a lack of effort-just the fact we haven't clicked into top gear. I'm quite relieved to still be in the top half of the league because when we do find that bit extra we can really kick on. We're at about 60 or 70 per cent of our capabilities. It's about gelling. We have moments in games that we've been really good. It is just getting that consistency in how we perform. Herne Bay won the Kent League last season and in my experience, teams from that division are competitive and physically strong. First and foremost we meed to match their effort."
