What the Chairman had to say...

What the Chairman had to say...

Here was his last programme message, from a couple of weeks ago, when we took on Brentford B

We thought we'd share it with you to whet your appetite before the season kicks off in earnest on Saturday, when we host Staines Town at three o'clock at Champion Hill. A little time has elapsed since it was published, and sometimes our voluntary website team don't always find the time to get articles on here immediately, so it's always best to buy a programme at the game to keep right up to date.

Here's what LIAM HICKEY had to say:

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to Champion Hill for today’s visit of a Brentford XI.

Those here on Tuesday would have seen a great game of football and some real signs of improvement in the team’s performance. The side appears to be coming together nicely as we build towards the new season, with strong performances from the players we already know and some other fine efforts from those trying to force their way in. Of course, we all know that Gavin will get the team right again.

Thank you all for your amazing donations over the last two games, with over £500 collected for each of the Grenfell Tower victims and Beckenham keeper Graham Loki. I have now sent the money to Graham and he is extremely grateful to you all.

In terms of new advertisers and sponsors then it was really good to have Honest Burger and Porters at the Crystal Palace game; I know they really enjoyed their evening.
The following evening, I was also able to secure The Real Greek as a new advertiser and they are delighted to be involved with the club. They will be opening their new restaurant in Dulwich Village at the start of September so look out for some great opening offers and a permanent discount for Hamlet fans.

I have also concluded a deal with The Flying Pig that will see them sponsor this year’s 50/50 tickets and their offer will ensure that if you spend £1 on a ticket then if you don’t win you can still get some of your money back by visiting their bar on east Dulwich Road.
I believe that now means you will shortly be able to secure discounts on either food, drink (or both) at the following places:

The Flying Pig
Franco Manca
MeatLiquor
The Real Greek
The Bishop

It was good to see the team in their new kit on Tuesday evening and I hope you agree it looked good. I am very grateful to Kappa and Jale Sports for the speed with which they have turned around our order this year. It really is nice not to be waiting until October to get it for a change.

In terms of Dulwich Hamlet TV, then we have invested in new equipment that means you will get the highlights quicker and also some unique goal angles from the back of the net. I am extremely grateful to the Supporters’ Trust, whose Mega Container profits funded these upgrades and to Tom Cullen, Jamal & Tom Bale for their hard work in making our channel even better. If you don’t subscribe already then do take a look on YouTube. Just search for Dulwich Hamlet TV.

However, we are still seeking sponsors for many items so a big thank you to those who have put forward suggestions over the summer. We have followed them all up and we are confident that they will lead to business. However, securing sponsors is something that takes some time and we are only a team of volunteers.

Finally, the players will be in The Bishop tonight from around 6pm, so you are welcome to join them. We also have an open training session here on 8th August from around 6.30pm so come and meet the management and players, then stay for a few drinks and find out details of a major new sponsorship arrangement we shall be announcing on the night.
Thank you for your continued support and hope you will all be back when we start for real against Staines Town on 12th August.
