What the papers said...
Back to our local papers, & their round up, from last week
The coverage won't seem so 'dated', a The Hamlet had no game on Saturday, due to the Merstham postponement, so we look back at the 'local rags' from ther week building up to it.
Last Tuesday, 11th December, in the non-league column of the "South London Press" we grabbed the main headline:
Leaders Hamlet smash four past Horsham
Dulwich Hamlet remain top of Ryman Division One South after an emphatic victory over Horsham, thanks to a Daniel Carr hat-trick. Hamlet have now won their last four league matches and are unbeaten in eight overall. They host struggling Corinthian-Casuals in the London County Cup tonight and will hope to keep their good form.
Two days later, in the weekly "Southwark News" there was also a report on the Horsham match:
Carr treble defeats Horsham
A hat-trick from striker Daniel Carr secured Dulwich a comfortable win over adisappointing Horsham side. Scoring on the day started courtesy of a bizarre own goal as Horsham keeper Michael Hunt dropped a corner into his own net. This was compunded when he misjudged a cross allowing Carr a simple header for the second.
Carr converted a third for Hamlet in the second period as he lifted th ball over the keeper from a Erhun Oztumer through ball. He then scored from close range for his hat-trick goal. Dulwich were helped by the dismissal of Ryan Woodford midway through the second half and the visitors rarely threatened Phil Wilson who enjoyed a comfortable afternoon in the home goal.
Hamlet's Tuesday night game against Corinthian-Casuals in the London Senior Cup was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Gavin Rose had the main headline in the non-league football page:
We are all looking good at the minute-Hamlet boss Rose
Hotshot striker Daniel Carr has struck up mutually beneficial relationship with his team which has seen him bag ten goals in four games Hamlet manager Gavin Rose has said.
The teenagers hat-trick against horsham on Saturday continued a purple patch of form for Carr during a period where Hamlet have hit the summit of the Ryman League South table.
Whilst the striker is grabbing the headlines it is his team that shouldbe sharing the plaudits according to Rose.
He told the News: "Daniel finishes off the chances and the chances are being provided by the whole team. I am not trying to put Daniels performances down but it is a team effort and both are benefiting. The team is providing the goals that make him look good and he is in turn making the team look good."
Rose was more than happy with the Hamlet's weekend showing against Horsham but denied it was a stroll in the park for his side.
"We played really well."Rose said. "They set us some problems in terms of formations and the boys were very good. I would not say it was a comfortablr win but the team played really well and went about their business in a good manner."
Dulwich still sit at the summit of the League table but Rose says at this point of the season he is not really interested in that. He added:
"People may well think I'm lying when I say this but I don't even look at the table and, at this stage of the season, I look more at performances. We are winning games so we can't be doing too badly. We will see where we are in January and then make a decision if we need something else in the squad in terms of the rest of the season."
And back to the "South London Press", for the midweek edition, last Friday, which concentrated on our long term injuries:
Return of crocked defenders is relief for Rose
Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Roae is relieved that three of his injured defenders are close to returning to action. Hamlet have played several matches in the last few weeks with no recognised defenders and a makeshift backline. But Ryan James and Josh Turner are nearly ready for action, while Ahmed Deen is less than three weeks away. "The boys have done really well in their absence," said Rose. "When they are back, we will have more players to choose from and less workload on those who come in."
Dulwich face 14th-placed Merstham in Ryman Division One South tomorrow. "They play good football and express themselves, which is admiralbe,"Rose said. "They are a lot better than their position suggests. We've always found it difficult against them and this game will be no different."
