What we said in the programme yesterday

What we said in the programme yesterday

Here is our Commercial & Community Column from the matchday programme last night, for those of you who don't get to see a copy:

Good evening everyone, tonight we are at home to bookies favourites Margate. It’s no secret that they are fortunate to have some very rich benefactors at their club, so it’s always harder for others such as ourselves to compete. And that’s where fans and sponsors come into the picture.

For although we are fortunate to have Winkworths of Dulwich as our main sponsor, and a number of secondary ones involved in our sponsorship project, such as Flock & Herd &Dulwich Tandoori; we also have other lesser, but no less worthy, projects that need your support.

And one of those is the official Match Sponsor & Match Ball sponsor project. As you will see, by glancing through the programme tonight we do not have either this evening. This is where YOU come in. An official Match Sponsorship package doesn’t break the banks, you would hardly need to be a tax exile in the Bahamas to afford one for example! For only £99 you can have your name in the programme, both for the match you sponsor & for the rest of the season. Included in the package are no less than FOUR match tickets, which include full boardroom & directors box access, if you so wish. Alternatively you can just stand with your friends on the terraces as usual. You will be highlighted over the tannoy throughout the game, and we can tailor this message to suit your needs.
A similar package applies for the Match Ball project, but with two complimentary tickets, and the cost of this is a mere thirty pounds. For both project schemes you also receive a complimentary match programme.
We would love to be able to ‘fill in the blanks’ on our sponsorship page as soon as possible, so if you would like to help just drop an email to Liam Hickey at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or give him a call on 07967212353

Moving on to our next home game on Saturday…and I doubt if I’ve ever been more excited about a community project. For it is Non League Day, which was set up four years ago, to promote our level of the game, on a blank International weekend, to attract new fans. Over the years the event has grown, with a number of wacky & innovative ideas from progressive clubs. And I hope our, hopefully not too ambitious, project on Saturday will be a great day…but it can only do so with all of your support.

We are grateful to our Club owners, & landlords, the Hadley Group, for allowing us to hold a ’Pay What You Like’ Day…which the Club, working in tandem with the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust, and individual fans, are working hard to promote in the community.

The idea is that everyone who comes through the turnstiles makes a donation of some sort, large or small. We would love our regular fans to pay their usual admission, so that we can cover the usual match day expenses. With extra money raised from locals who might not usually get to Champion Hill the Club shall be making a charitable donation to the Mayor of Southwark’s chosen charities, which are two local ones supporting homeless people- The Robe Foundation & UK Homes 4 Heroes. The Mayor himself, Councillor Sunil Chopra, will be in attendance, personally.

We have also been honoured by being chosen as one of only four non-league clubs, to be ambassadors for the ‘Kick It Out’ anti-racism & discrimination campaign’s ‘Season of Action’ on Non League Day.

As if that wasn’t an exciting enough project to be involved in, our players and Gavin & his management team are also mucking in, with their very own ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ after the match, at about 5.15pm on the pitch! And for this project to be a success we need YOUR help! For we need Hamlet fans to sponsor them to do the ‘dirty deed’ by paying for the privilege of tipping a bucket over them. We are asking for pledges of donations to be sent via email, again to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. & would suggest anything from ten pounds upwards to soak a player; & say, £20 to £25 each for one of the management team. Though, of course, the higher the better, to ensure you are one of the successful bids. We shall be keeping people up to date with the bids, but with no names mentioned, on the official Dulwich Hamlet website, throughout the week, and emails bids will be accepted up until nine o’clock on Friday evening.

We hope our fans will support this great initiative, as it’s a great project from our players, and we wouldn’t want them to get soaked for nothing!

All I can say now is…roll on Saturday!
