Whyteleafe 6-1 Dulwich Hamlet XI

Whyteleafe 6-1 Dulwich Hamlet XI

A team of fringe, trialist and first team players were soundly beaten by a Whyteleafe side who were much more cohesive.

Dulwich suffered an embarrassing defeat in a performance littered with errors.

Those started early as Rickie Hayles presented a goal to Charles Postance. With no danger, he inexplicably passed the ball back towards keeper de Sena and Postance had the easiest of chances to convert.

The Hamlet had a good chance to level soon afterwards but Mohamed Mohamed fired wide when well placed. That miss was quickly followed by a second goal for Whyteleafe. More poor defending from a cross presented the ball to Clayton who fired home.

Mohamed Mohamed saw a good effort blocked by ex Hamlet man Tyrell Forbes and Lekan Osideko also saw his shot well saved by Pierson in the home goal.

Despite not creating any further opportunities the industrious Nana Boakye-Yiadom stood out for Dulwich with his touch and strength in possession during the half.

Half Time 2-0

Dulwich came within inches of halving the deficit just three minutes after the break. Nana Boakye-Yiadom was brought down and Ashley Carew's free kick beat the wall but rebounded out off the post.

Boakye-Yiadom headed just wide from a Sanchez Ming cross but Dulwich still looked vulnerable as Whyteleafe broke at will through the midfield. From one break Postance headed w8ee with the goal gaping.

Sanchez Ming saw his shot well saved at the end of a driving before Whyteleafe added a third in the 64th minute. Jerry Amoo was allowed to drive at the heart of the defence and he thumped his effort inside the near post, although maybe de Pena should have done better.

Dulwich pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute. Boakye-Yiadom was brought down again and, this time, Carew's free kick beat Pierson high to his left.

Whyteleafe almost added a fourth in the 77th minute but, after a scramble in front of the Dulwich goal, the shot struck the bar.

However, with three goals in the last seven minutes Whyteleafe underlined their dominance.

For the fourth goal, Azeez delivered a low cross that keeper de Sena should have cut out but he allowed it to bounce over him, leaving Ajakaiye with a simple tap in.

More poor defending resulted in a fifth goal in the 86th minute. A cross to the far post saw hesitant defending and Musungu was left alone to fire home high into the net at the keeper's near post.

The final goal arrived in stoppage time when Ajakaiye used his pace and strength to run through the Dulwich defence and roll his shot home.

Final Score 6-1
