Dulwich produced an extremely disappointing performance to be deservedly dumped out of the Buildbase FA Trophy by Bostik League Premier Division Wingate & Finchley.
With Magnus Okuonghae and Michael Chambers both absent through injury, Ibrahim Kargbo once again appeared at Right Back with QAuade Taylor restored to the starting line-up. There was a first full appearance for Jason Banton and Dipo Akinyemi and Nathan Fereguson came back into the starting team.
Dulwich got off to a slow start and could have been behind in the 2nd minute. A weak tackle allowed Laney to cross for Beckles-Richards but he fired well over, whilst Putman wasted a good chance when he broke clear; Kargbo getting across as he tried to make a better angle for the shot.
There was then an incredible escape for The Hamlet in the 10th minute. Further poor defending saw the home side presented with what looked like a tap in at the far post, but Preston Edwards saved that and two other efforts, whilst Ibrahim Kargbo blocked two other efforts on the line.
Dulwich were finally seen as an attacking force following this escape and Dipo Akinyemi had a good chance to give them the lead in the 12th minute but he took too many touches before finally shooting and home keeper Gore saved his effort.
The game then settled down with neither side getting on top before, in the 25th minute, Dipo Akinyemi embarked on a 50 yard run that unfortunately ended with a weak effort that was comfortably saved.
Two minutes later Wingate & Finchley took the lead. Ashley Carew lost the ball and conceded a free kick for grabbing his opponent, Eadie floated the free kick into the penalty area and Laney diveretd it in with ease.
Dulwich looked to strike back and Gore was forced to push out an effort from Akinyemi and Banton couldn't reach the follow up, whilst Carew fired a free kick wide after Allen was brought down. A Clunis cross then saw Baton have two close range effortsvblocked and Akinyemi forced a good stop from Gore after another determined run from half way.
Half Time 1-0
The Hamlet opned the second half brightly with a Nathan Green effort deflected just wide in the opening minute and Allen seeing his effort saved after firing too close to Gore.
Carew then had a free kick pushed out by Gore, who got down low to his left hand post, and he then blazed over after a teasing cross from Allen was clawed out to him. However, it was the home side who brought an end to Dulwich pressure by breaking to to score a second on the hour.
From a Dulwich attack, the home side broke swiftly and Laney, who was left too much space, produced a first time effort that beat Edwards high to his left .
Dulwich looked to quickly reduce the arrears but Carew saw Gore produce another low save and Akinyemi and Taylor left a Carew cross to each other at the far post.
Gavin Tomlin fired an effort wid, Carew saw another effort saved after a scramble in the penalty area, Akinyemi saw an effort deflected wide and Gore pushed an effort from Tomlin over the bar. However, despite all the pressure there was a real lack of conviction in Dulwich's play and they lacked penetration to really break down the home side.
Jay May went close in the 89th minute with a spectacular volley on the turn that beat Gore but flashed inches wide, whilstSanchez Ming fired over in the final seconds.
Final Score 2-0
