Youth Teams in action this weekend

Plenty of action for the Aspire Academy coached Dulwich Hamlet youth teams tomorrow (Sunday).

Top of the bill is an enticing clash for the Under 18s in the quarterfinals of the Kent Youth League KitToFit Challenge Cup. It’s a repeat of what was a pulsating FA Youth Cup tie down at Margate back in early October, though this time the Kent side are the guests rather than hosts. Then Dulwich romped into a two goal lead at the break, only to surrender that lead in two minutes of madness at the start of the second half. Fortunately, the Margate revival was stymied as the Hamlet youngsters nailed down the game with a further brace of goals, even affording themselves of missing a penalty. This game is scheduled for an 11 am kick off at Rutland Walk in Catford.

Later in the afternoon, the Under 16s are also due to be in action when they take on Meridian VP in a Kent Youth League fixture. Though Meridian sit third and Dulwich back in 8th, it was a tight encounter in the reverse fixture in December, the Greenwich-based just shading it 2-1. That game is due for a 2.00 pm kick-off at Rutland Walk.

At the same time the Under 15s will be kicking off down at Church Road, Whyteleafe, attempting to upset the formbook against the table topping ‘Leafe youngsters. Despite the gap in the standings it was a tight encounter when the two clubs met on the opening back of the season at Rutland Walk with Cameron Grant’s goal for Whyteleafe splitting the sides in the final reckoning.

Also due for a 2.00 pm kick-off are the Under 14s, still looking for their first points of the season. It’ll be a tough ask on Sunday with division leaders Crayford Arrows the opposition. That game will be played at Bakersfield in Crayford.
