Dulwich Hamlet Reserves lost 4 - 1 to Maidstone United as their unbeaten start to the season came to an end. The score line doesn't reflect the competitive nature of the game, as Dulwich created chance after chance only to have the ball miraculously escape the back of the net.

Maidstone started the better team and scored early from a long range effort. This woke up Dulwich who then created a number of chances down the wing and through the middle with Kyla Hussein, Nikiya Palmer-Steele and Neve Mayes causing problems for the Maidstone defence, but could only shoot straight at the keeper. Dulwich were punished at a corner as Maidstone went two nil up from a penalty. A goal mouth scramble just before half time saw Dulwich have 4 goes at goal before the ball slid agonisingly wide with the goal gaping. 

Dulwich came out in the second half knowing the next goal was crucial. While the game continued to be even with both teams attacking, Maidstone showed clinical finishing with two quick goals from diagonal balls in behind taking the game away from Dulwich. To their credit Hamlet kept attacking, creating a number of gilt edged chances including hitting the bar and the post before Ky Krames finally got Dulwich on the scoresheet with a thumping shot. As both teams tired in the last 10 mins it was end to end with Emma McClement making two fine stops to limit further damage.

While 4 - 1 felt a harsh scoreline and Dulwich will rue their missed chances it was a clinical display from a strong Maidstone side. The Reserves will look to bounce back next week when they host Actonian Reserves at the Training Ground.
