Dulwich Hamlet Reserves beat Tooting Bec two nil on Sunday to take their second win of the season and set the early pace at the top of the league. On a hot day the Reserves came under early pressure from a high press on a difficult pitch with Emma McClement earning a clean sheet. The team slowly settled into the game and started to cause Tooting problems going forward with Neve Mayes holding the ball up well and creating chances for our wingers to get forward. Dulwich opened the scoring with a well worked goal that came from Neve crossing into a dangerous area and Kyla Hussein finishing it off for her first goal of the season. 

Dulwich built on the goal in the second half to have the best of the game, although the heat, Tooting’s physicality, a few injuries, and the pitch made it challenging to create clear chances and build momentum. A moment of high quality as a first time cross from Nikiya Palmer-Steele was finished with a brilliant header from Kyleigh Krames for her first goal for Dulwich put us two nil up and in control. Despite a late scare as Tooting Bec missed a penalty that came from an underhit back pass we held on for a clean sheet and three points. Neve earned player of the match for her assist and central role in holding up the ball and dictating our attacking play. 

Next Sunday we are back at home to play Maidstone who come off the back of a 4-1 win against Hastings in the FA cup and a league victory on the opening week against Actonian Reserves. It should be a good test so please do come down to support us!
