WOMEN'S TEAM MANAGEMENT UPDATE | 12/12/25
Ahead of our match on Sunday, we want to announce that Richie Byrne has agreed to step in as Head Coach of our Women’s First Team.
Richie brings top-level experience from a professional career that saw him play in the Scottish Premier League with Aberdeen and Dunfermline, compete in European competition, and work inside elite football environments for over 15 years.
Alongside his playing background, Richie has built years of coaching experience across senior football, youth development, and performance; including leading training programmes, player development pathways and contributing to tactical and cultural standards within first-team setups.
Richie will have the amazing support of current staff and volunteers Leikam, Manu, Alka, and Sonia. We thank everyone for their ongoing commitment and dedication to the team and club.
Plan your Sunday as we welcome Luton Town to the Hill
This Sunday we return to Champion Hill aiming to bounce back from our last-minute defeat to Norwich City.
A resilient Hamlet side almost returned from Norfolk with a share of the spoils only to be denied thanks to a last-minute penalty for the hosts.
It was a much-improved performance from those in pink & blue and they'll be looking for a similar performance this weekend against Luton Town.
It's the return fixture of our opening day of the season where we fell to a 3-1 defeat with the Hamlet looking for revenge this time around!
It's sure to be an enthralling afternoon of FAWNL football as the Hamlet look to end 2025 with victory.

Maria Tavares departs as women’s first team manager
The club can confirm that Maria Tavares has left her position as the manager of the women’s first team.
Maria joined the club in the summer and oversaw a promising start to the 2025 26 season with six wins in the first two months but with four of those victories coming in the cup and with five defeats in our past six matches our league form has left us significantly short of the targets we all agreed for the league at the start of this season. The club has taken the decision to make this change with immediate effect following a detailed review process and has begun a transition plan to provide the team with the support they need.
We would like to thank Maria for her hard work and wish her the best for the future.
Our focus now is on our final game of 2025 when we host Luton Town at Champion Hill this Sunday and hope fans will be there to support the players and the coaching team before we take the time over the holidays to review our longer-term plans.
Plan your trip | Norwich City | The Nest
It's our penultimate game of 2025 on Sunday as we visit Norwich City in Norfolk! Plan your trip with our matchday guide here:
STADIUM ADDRESS:
The Nest, Holt Road, Horsford, Norwich, NR10 3AQ
By train:
Trains run direct from London Liverpool Street to Norwich station. Please be aware that The Nest is quite a way out of the city centre. The 35 bus otherwise known as the CanaryKonect Bus is a direct route from Norwich station to The Nest. It takes roughly 25 minutes buses run every hour. We recommend getting the 12:45 service to make sure you're at the stadium in time for kick-off. Prices for the bus are capped at £3 each way.
MATCH TICKETS:
Match tickets for Sunday can be purchased in advance by clicking here.
Prices are as follows:
Adults: £6
65+: £3
U18: £3
U12: £1
PUBS WE RECOMMEND:
There are no pubs within walking distance of the Nest, our recommendations instead are in Norwich city centre.
Our 2 recommendations are a short walk from the train station. Firstly a riverside destination in the form of the Compleat Angler. It has a large covered riverside terrace. It serves food and has a large range of locally sourced and nationaly recognised drinks available.
Our other suggestion is the Coach & Horses. Like the Angler it has a large food menu and a good range of locally sourced and nationally recognised drinks available. It's run by the Chalk Hill Brewery the longest serving independent Brewery in the city which has been open in Norwich since 1993!
WHAT FOOD IS AVAILABLE:
The Nest has a Cafe on site that is open until 5pm with hot and cold drinks available as well as food.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
Sadly dogs are not allowed inside the Nest on Sunday
