50 Goals For Danny Mills
New Year's Day win at Dover brought up half-century for Hamlet striker.
It was a proud moment on New Year's Day for Danny Mills as he reached 50 goals for Dulwich Hamlet.
His equaliser on the stroke of half-time in that game made him the 26th player to achieve that record since the end of the Second World War, and the first since Ashley Carew in November 2017.
Danny joined us in the summer of 2019 from Ebbsfleet United, and since then has been our top scorer in each of his four seasons, including the current campaign.
He reached 20 goals during the 2019-20 season before the campaign was ended prematurely due to the Covid pandemic, before scoring six times in the shortened 20-21 season, and 14 last season.
Having scored against Farnborough, he is now on 11 for the current campaign, and 51 in total.
Of his first 50 goals, 39 of them have come in the National League South, six in the FA Trophy, three in the FA Cup and a brace against Wingate & Finchley in the London Senior Cup. 28 of those goals had come at Champion Hill, with 22 on our travels.
Millsy has scored a brace or better in a game on nine occasions, with six of those coming in his first season alone, and one of those was his solitary hat-trick for the Hamlet, scoring three in a 5-3 win at home to Chelmsford City in February 2020.
When asked about how many he had scored with his head, Danny was expecting at least 30, but in fact just 23 of his half-century have been scored that way!
27 different teammates have assisted his goals, with the most being five from Gio McGregor, all coming during the 2021-22 campaign. Including Farnborough, he has now scored against 22 different opponents for us, with the side suffering the most being Hampton & Richmond Borough, against whom he has scored five times.
Finally, given the fact he has been a mainstay in the side since arriving, it is unsurprising that just five of his goals have come as a substitute, that Wingate brace, plus strikes at home to Braintree and away to Bath in 2020, and against Welling back in August in Gavin Rose's final home game in charge.
Congratulations Millsy, a truly great achievement, let's have a few more please before you hang up those boots as you keep threatening!
