All aboard!
Hamlet fan SHAUN DOOLEY is arranging a number of supporters coaches to matches throughout the coming season...the first to Margate in the Cup
As well as the FA Cup tie down to the coast, he will be hoping to run them to all of our away matches outside the M25. To include any further cup ties, if supporters back his initiative.
The first one is to Margate, for our FA Cup second qualifying round match, on Saturday 28th October. The price is £14 for adults, and £8 concessions. He said: "I've tried to keep it as cheap as possible, while still having a realistic break even figure. If any trip does make a profit I will use it to subsidise future trips, I won't make a single penny out of it myself, and will be paying for my own seat on the bus!"
A standard day return from London to Margate by train is £32.
The coach will leave Champion Hill at 10.30am, and depart from Margate's ground post-match at 5.45pm.
It's worth noting that Shaun is arranging this on a totally non-profit basis, off of his own back, as cheaply as costs allow, and if coaches make a loss he will have to carry the cost himself.
If there is a definate result against Margate then three dyas later there is a provisional Ryman League Premier Division match at Bury Town, a ground we have never played at before. Shaun is also running a coach to this fixture, departing Champion Hill at 4.00pm, returning around ten minutes after the final whsitle, to allow fans to cheer the team off the pitch, and to have a quick toilet break!
The cost of this trip has been pegged to only £15 for adults, concessions at £9.
A off peak return train ticket to Bury St. Edmunds from Liverpool Street is £39.50, the fares rise substantially for peak-time travel, & the ONLY train back after the final whsitle is at 9.56pm, you have to change at Cambridge, and get back to London past midnight.
Using Shaun's coach is 'door to door', ground to ground, and you can park your car at Champion Hill, if you wish.
As mentioned Shaun is running this scheme off of his own back, but he is confident of his idea succeeding:
" On some trips I might lose a few quid, but hopefully that will be recouped on the more popular ones. Over the whole lot I expect to roughly break even. There was such a buzz when I ran a coach to Herne Bay at the end of last season, and that has carried over to our away games so far this year. Dulwich fans, old and new, have felt the excitement of going away in numbers, and I want this to continue for the longer trips, which are outside the London area, so I'm hoping our fans will book up and get behind my coaches so we can roar Gavin & the team on to victory wherever we play, even if it's a bit further afield, whether that be a Saturday or midweek."
Shaun has confirmed he plans to run a coach to the following matches:
Saturday 28th September: Margate (FA CUP) Depart 10.30am £14 & £8
Tuesday 1st October: Bury Town Depart 4.00pm £15 & £9
The following fixtures will have a supporters coach, but departure times to be arranged:
Saturday 2nd November: Leiston £18 & £10
Saturday 9th November: Bognor Regis Town £14 & £8
Saturday 21st December: Lowestoft Town £18 & £10
Tuesday 21st January: Margate £14 & £8
Saturday 15th February: Canvey Island £11 & £6
Saturday 1st March: Lewes £12 & £7
Saturday 15th March: Maidstone United £11 & £6
Saturday 12th April: Billericay Town £11 & £6
If any matches are POSTPONED then Shaun will arrange a coach for the new date, whether a Saturday, or midweek.
If you usually go under your own steam, either by car or train, please consider going on the Supporters Coach. By doing so will not only save you money, but will enable them to run, and allow some supporters, who might not be able to afford to travel otherwise, to support our team!
To book just speak to Shaun DOOLEY, or any other helper at the "12th Man" stand, at any home game. Bookings currently being taken for Margate in the Cup, and Bury Town. You are enocuraged to make a deposit when booking, though payment is fine on the day.
HOWEVER: If you book for a trip and do not show you will be politely asked to pay the full amount in advance with your next booking.
You can also phone or text Shaun on 07931276118 , to book.
If you cannot get through to him, please note that Shaun does shift work, but he will get back to you, if you cannot speak to him when you try to call.
