Aveley 0-4 Dulwich Hamlet

Dulwich put in a thoroughly professional performance in which Oshane Brown was rarely troubled.

Dulwich dominated first half proceedings against Aveley. Jack Dixon fired wide from the edge of the box in the 7th minute and Jordan Robertson was just wide with an effort after being set up by Kevin James.

Aveley had their first meaningful attack on 13 minutes but the shot failed to trouble Oshane Brown in the Hamlet goal.

Nyren Clunis had a shot on the turn from the edge of the box that was well saved and the same player embarked on a run from inside his own half but saw his effort blocked.

In a rare Aveley attack Mitchell Nelson got across to block at the expense of a corner before Dulwich took a 31st minute lead. Dean Lodge slipped a pass to Nyren Clunis who thumped a shot high into the net across the keeper.

Kevin James headed home but was adjudged offside before Matt Drage embarked on a length of the field run. His attempted chip over the keeper was just clawed out and his subsequent cross evaded both Robertson and James.

Halftime 0-1

The second half saw Dulwich dominant throughout and Jordan Robertson should have scored in the 53rd minute when he was set up by Nyren Clunis.

The lead was doubled 3 minutes later as a Kristian Campbell cross was destined for Jordan Robertson but an Aveley defender beat him to it but could only head into his own net.

On 67 minutes Jacob Erskine added a third as he headed in a pinpoint cross from fellow sub Damian Scannell.

The game gave Hamlet fans their first glimpse of new signing Charlie Penny and he shot wide after getting clear. With two minutes left Jacob Erskine tried to set up Charlie Penny when he perhaps could have scored himself, but his pass was intercepted.

The Aveley keeper produced a good last minute stop from a Jacob Erskine header but Danny Waldren headed in the resulting corner kick.
