Crystal Palace Development Squad In Action At Champion Hill Today

Dulwich Hamlet are hosting Crystal Palace Under 23s this afternoon as they face Watford in the Professional Development League

The Crystal Palace Under 23s will be looking to arrest a run of five straight defeats this afternoon when they face their counterparts from the Hornets as they return to Champion Hill for the fourth of nine games to be played at Champion Hill. The previous games here have produced some thrilling football and a host of goals that began with a 2-2 draw against Barnsley. That game saw a flurry of late goals as the young Tykes scored twice in two minutes to take a what seemed a commanding lead only for strikes from Levi Lumeka and Corie Andrews at death to secure the Eaglets a late point. At home to Hull City there was less drama but just as many goals with Randell Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka putting Palace firmly in control just after half-time before Belgian striker Jonathan Benteke, younger brother of Christian, netted his side’s third as the Eagles claimed their third win in their six league matches up to that point.

Since then results have been disappointing, a 5-0 reverse away to Birmingham City followed further defeats going down 2-0 to Huddersfield Town at Selhurst Park and 1-0 away to South London rivals Millwall. On their last outing at Champion Hill the young Eagles faced a Coventry City side in red-hot form and leading the table. It was all square until ten minutes before the break when American striker Jack McBean, on loan to the Sky Blues from LA Galaxy, thrashed a close-range shot past ‘keeper Kleton Perntreou. Five minutes later George Thomas added a second with a fine finish with Devon Kelly-Evans getting number three early in the second half. Levi Lumeka pulled one back later in the half but it was not enough to turn the game back in favour of the Palace.

Admission today is via the main turnstiles which are open from 12.15pm, prices £4 for Adults, £2 for all the usual Dulwich Hamlet Concessions with Under 13s FREE. Kick-off is at 1.00pm
