Do THEY mean US?

Do THEY mean US?

Time for a look at what our opponents official websites thought of The Hamlet over the last week

Seven days ago we travelled to Imber Court, for a goalless draw with Metropolitan Police.

Rearguard action for Met against Dulwich

If this was a boxing match then Dulwich would have won on points, but the Met defence held firm throughout the game. A healthy crowd, largely populated by a noisy & jovial Dulwich support, were denied any goals but saw a competitive game between two good sides.
It was almost a game of attack versus defence as the Met lacked any real composure in the final third of the pitch. The story of the first half was the two good headed chances that fell to Harry Ottaway but he headed both over the bar when well placed to score.
The best chance of the game came in the second half and fell to the Mets Dave Knight who was put through by a great pass from Steve Sutherland. He ran through, one on one, with the Dulwich keeper and pushed the ball round him but went too far wide to be able to finish.
A great debut for Daniel Lincoln in the Met goal and solid defending by the Met back four, led by Steve Sutherland & Ricardo Joseph, meant Dulwich were constantly frustrated throughout the game.
No goals and honours even was the final result at Imber Court & credit to the Met defence.

On Tuesday we had an ultimately emphatic victory at home to Cray Wanderers.

Dulwich Hamlet 4 Cray Wanderers 0

Cray were savagely taken apart by a Dulwich team that look to have plenty about them at the start of this new season after their promotion as last year's Ryman Division One South champions.

An umarked Dean Lodge at the far post failed to punish Cray at the end of Dulwich's first dangerous attack that stemmed from Cray losing their shape at the back.

The home 'keeper dived at Tommy Whitnell's feet to snuff out a Cray attack, and then on 12 minutes Dulwich took the lead when Ellis Green advanced from central midfield, and with Cray backing off he hit a 25-yard screamer past Andy Walker.

Leigh Bremner's header from an Alex Stavrinou cross was comfortably taken by the 'keeper.

Dulwich were finding that defence-splitting passes were troublesome to Cray, but Danny Young made a saving tackle as Billy Crook closed in on goal.

Cray held their own for a period of the play but didn't help themselves with poor delivery from a corner-kick and a free-kick, both from the right.

On the stroke of half-time Dulwich had three great chances to score. Walker saved from Green, Ben Frempah cleared a shot at the expense of a corner-kick, and then from that corner-kick the impressive Erun Oztumer thrashed a shot through a crowded goalmouth to give Dulwich a two-goal lead at the interval.

Lodge missed a great chance to increase Dulwich's lead immediately after the break when he was put clear, rounded Walker but put a hurried shot wide.

But there were two more cracking goals to come as Dulwich easily and confidently bossed the game.

Harry Ottoway crashed a shot past Walker and Oztumer headed home after Cray lost possession and allowed a cross to come in from the left.

Forced to defend deep throughout the second half, as had been the pattern of the first half too, Cray couldn't produce any threat upfront although they battled away, looking frustrated in midfield where the engine occasionally spluttered but never got to ignite.
