DULWICH HAMLET 1-2 METROPOLITAN POLICE
Despite a second half comeback Dulwich were unable to repair the damage created by a disastrous first half showing.
Dulwich opened the match in positive fashion with three presentable opportunities created in the opening ten minutes. Nyren Clunis couldn't convert an Erhun Oztumer cross and Ellis Green had a shot blocked before an Ellis Green free kick that passed across goal with nobody able to apply a decisive touch.
The visitors then tested Chico Ramos from a Tom Bird free kick that he had to touch over before disastrous defending by The Hamlet gifted them a 24th minute lead. A long ball over the top caused hesitation between Lewis Gonsalves and Chico Ramos which left Tyrone Pink to lift the ball towards goal and then finish into the empty net.
Dulwich could find no response and fell further behind on 40 minutes as Ethan Pinnock could only cleAr the ball across his own goal and Pink had the simple task of prodding home the second.
On the stroke of half time Dulwich thought they had found a way back into the game as a delightful ball from Erhun Oztumer picked out the run of Ellis Green who nodded past the keeper and rolled the ball home. However, to everybody's surprise the assistant raised his flag to signal offside despite Green obviously being behind the defender when the ball was played.
Half Time 0-2
Dulwich opened the second half pushing their visitors back and should have halved the lead on 49 minutes. Peter Adeniyi carried the ball from the back and released Ellis Green wide on the left. His cross was headed back across goal by Ian Daly and somehow Nyren Clunis failed to get enough on his header with the goal gaping.
A minute later Ian Daly flicked a long ball on and Nyren Clunis lifted it over the advancing keeper only for it to be cleared off the line.
On 56 minutes Dulwich got a lifeline as Erhun Oztumer was brought down just inside the penalty area by a clumsy challenge. He got up to covert the spot kick with his usual unerring accuracy.
As Dulwich now pressed forward, substitute Kevin James was foiled by a low save from visiting keeper Searle after he had got on the end of a great ball in from Oztumer and Billy Crook drove another chance just wide.
However, despite the game now being played mainly in the visitors half and some fine movement down the flanks, Dulwich were unable to fashion any clear sights of goal and slipped to a rare home defeat.
