Dulwich Hamlet 1-4 Carlisle United
The Hamlet's FA Cup adventure ultimately ended in disappointment as the visitors ultimately proved better at taking their chances.
Dulwich bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup with defeat to Carlisle United as the visitors proved more adept at taking their opportunities.
Gavin Rose sprung a couple of surprises in selection as new signings Ben Dempsey and Nathan Smith made their debuts, whilst Richard Orlu returned to the starting line-up , with Quade Taylor, Jack Connors and Connor Hunte being replaced from the match against Bath City.
Whilst The Hamlet opened brightly, it was the visitors who could have taken the lead in the 7th minute but for a goal line clearance from Marvin McCoy, as he was well positioned to clear an effort from Olomola.
Almost immediately, the ever industrious Ade Yusuff won two challenges close to the visitors penalty area but his effort was deflected wide for a corner. However, that Dulwich pressure was ultimately to bring the visitors the lead, with Dulwich caught over-committing to attack.
The corner was cleared to Harry McKirdy who was faced with Dominic Vose to beat on the right and his cross was turned home by Olomola from an unmarked position on the edge of the six yard box.
The goal heralded a period of Dulwich dominance as Ben Chapman and Ade Yusuff saw efforts blocked by visiting defenders before Marvin McCoy came within inches of a 27th minute equaliser as his shot beat Collin but clipped the crossbar.
However, having seen very little from Carlisle as an attacking force, Dulwich failed to heed an earlier warning when McKirdy had fired wide at the near post and he doubled the lead in the 37th minute, touching home a low cross from the Dulwich left.
The two goal deficit was harsh on the home side and they looked to cut the deficit before the break but Jeffrey Monakana scuffed his shot after making space on the edge of the penalty area and the same player's cross was almost turned into his own goal by Webster.
Half Time 0-2
The Hamlet came out looking for a way back into the game and halved the deficit in the 49th Minute after a foul on Danny Mills wide on the right, Jeffrey Monakana delivered the free kick into the penalty area and Christian Smith rose above everybody to plant his header into the net.
Dulwich now sensed their chance and after Ade Yuusuff was brought down, Ben Chapman saw his free kick curl wide of the goal. However, the fightback was to be stopped in its tracks by a 56th minute goal out of nothing. Mike Jones received the ball and drifted infield before unleashing an unstoppable effort that flew past Grainger in the home goal.
This deflated everybody in the stadium and Webster should have added another goal when a free kick fell to him but he stabbed his effort wide when unmarked. Grainger then produced an excellent fingertip save to keep out a effort from McKirdy.
For all their effort, Dulwich were unable to test Collin in the Carlisle goal as he saw efforts from Clunis, Chapman and Orlu that were either weak or wide, before the visitors put the finishing touches to their win as McKirdy was released into space behind the defence and easily beat Grainger with four minutes remaining.
