DULWICH HAMLET 2-0 THAMESMEAD TOWN
Goals at the start and end of the second half secured a hard fought victory for The Hamlet over a vastly improved Thamesmead Town side.
The match began with the visitors working hard and closing Dulwich down from the front and it took until the 8th minute to create anything of note. Ahmed Deen delivered a cross from the left and Jerome Walker thumped a header against the bar. Thamesmead immediately sprang forward and forced a good stop from Chico Ramos.
The best chance of the half arrived in the 18th minute and fell to the visitors. A poor clearance from Chico Ramos resulted in a shot on goal that saw Shamir Mullings seemingly have the simple task of slotting home. However Ramos got back to block his shot on the line.
Whilst the game was always interesting, there were no other clear chances created before the interval.
Half Time 0-0
Dulwich were quickly into their stride after the break and took the lead within 2 minutes. Erhun Oztumer drifted in from the right and unleashed a low drive. Visiting keeper Mott got down well to parry but the rebound was turned home by Nyren Clunis following in.
Dulwich turned up the pressure but Mott was in fine form and kept out a 20 yard half volley and two further fierce shots from a similar distance; all unleashed by Xavier Vidal.
However, it took a fine 64th minute stop from Chico Ramos to preserve the lead as a scuffed shot fell to an unmarked forward on the penalty spot but he was swiftly off his line to deflect it wide.
Erhun Oztumer had a 71st minute chance to double the lead as a clever flick from Nyren Clunis sent him advancing on goal but with just Mott to beat he blazed over.
Two minutes later the visitors came close to levelling as a great run and cross from right back Calum McGeehan saw Mullings head narrowly wide whilst , at the other end, Xavier Vidal unleashed another shot that was a whisker wide.
Finally, with the match entering stoppage time, a fine cross from the right saw the ball cleared to the edge of the penalty area where the onrushing Mathieu Voter's shot was brilliantly deflected on to the bar by Mott. The ball crashed down but Erhun Oztumer was on hand to seal the game for Dulwich.
