Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Harrow Borough

Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Harrow Borough

An injury time strike from a most unlikely source took The Hamlet through to the F A Trophy 2nd Qualifying Round.

A fine strike from Kershaney Samuels in stoppage time won this tie as Dulwich, who had been so dominant in the first half, struggled to impose themselves after the break.

Dulwich opened the game well and quickly got the upper hand with Nyren Clunis giving his marker a particularly torrid time down the left. The first chance arrived when he was brought down inches outside the box but Kevin James curled the resulting free kick over the bar.

Xavier Vidal was close to threading his pass through the Harrow defence to Erhun Oztumer whilst Jerome Walker made a break from the edge of his own box that left defenders trailing in his wake. However, he elected to try to play in Erhun Oztumer when he should probably have shot and the danger was cleared.

This was a let off for the visitors but they were soon to fall behind as another free kick saw a delightful delivery from the left which saw Ian Daly rise highest and flick his header home.

Little was seen of the visitors as an attacking threat and they were required to scramble a Jerome Walker cross shot from in front of the line to keep the deficit at one.

The second half began as if it would follow a similar pattern as Ian Daly produced a fine turn in the box and perhaps should have done better than shoot at the advancing keeper. The same player also headed just wide but as the half wore on Barrow gradually gained a foothold.

Kevin James had to be replaced and from this time onwards The Hamlet were unable to assert any real control. Phil Wilson's goal was now more under threat but despite some crosses and long range strikes he was enjoying a fairly comfortable afternoon.

However, Harrow were to hit an equliser as Ethan Pinnock initially did well to chase back and snuff out a break from the visitors but his clearance found its way into midfield where Dulwich were slow to retreat and the ball was transferred to left back Garry Jones whose fine strike beat Wilson high to his left.

Dulwich tried to reassert themselves on the game but Harrow looked dangerous now but neither side was able to muster a clear chance with the closest being a Nyren Clunis strike that beat both the keeper and the post.

As the game entered four minutes of added time it looked odds on a replay but Kershaney Samuels, who had earlier replaced Kevin James in midfield, received the ball in the middle of the field some 25 yards out and, after stepping to the right of a defender's challenge, let fly with a shot that beat the despairing dive of Lincoln in the Harrow goal and nestled in the bottom left corner to give The Hamlet victory.
