Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Huddersfield Town
An almost perfect evening of football with a Hamlet win and the chance to say one final goodbye to Daniel Carr in front of a healthy crowd of 421.
A game of high quality passing football by both sides which was also competitive, as evidenced by a number of robust challenges, ended with a morale boosting pre season win and an assist for Huddersfield's goal for Daniel Carr.
The first half saw both sides play neat passing football on an excellent surface but chances were at a premium. The best of these saw Daniel Carr played through on goal but he steered his shot wide of the onrushing Phil Wilson but also wide of the goal.
Half Time 0-0
The second half saw more chances and it was Dulwich who took the lead as Erhun Oztumer embarked on a mazy run into and across the Huddersfield penalty area but couldn't get a shot away. The ball was then returned to the left side where Ahmed Deen delivered a pinpoint cross that was headed home by the diminutive Oztumer at the far post.
Huddersfield responded a created a number of chances but Phil Wilson was in fine shot stopping form and Mark Anthony and Lewis Gonsalves were forming a solid pairing in front of him.
In fact it was Dulwich who extended their lead as another Ahmed Deen cross was met by his opposite full back Mathieu Boyer who powered his header home from close range.
Huddersfield did get the goal that they deserved with almost the final kick of the game as Daniel Carr's cross was brilliantly volleyed into the top corner by Matt Crooks from the edge of the box.
There were many good performances from Hamlet players with Ethan Pinnock assured in midfield and forming a good partnership with Billy Crook. Jerome Walker once again impressed as a substitute on the right wing where he regularly went past his full back and Harry Ottaway made his Hamlet bow up front as a second half substitute.
