Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 Staines Town
Dulwich clinched a place in the next round of the Alan Turvey Trophy with a penalty from Ashley Carew in the final minute of stoppage time.
A youthful Staines Town side, and a Hamlet line up including many of their next generation, played out an exciting game at Champion Hill.
The Dulwich starting line up included Saidou Khan, Dialang Jaiyesimi, Jamie Mascoll & Josh Fernandes with Oshane Brown seeing his first action of the season in goal.
The first real effort on goal didn't arrive until the tenth minute when Jordan Brown, Fernandes & Mascoll combined on the left but the latter's shot was easily saved.
Staines grabbed the lead in the 22nd minute when a ball lofted over the defence caught Matt Drage the wrong side of his man and Prince M' Bengui rolled the ball past Oshane Brown.
Dulwich responded positively to going behind with youngsters Khan & Jaiyesimi combining well on the right. Jaiyesimi was crowded out when well placed and Khan sliced an effort well wide after cutting in, before Dulwich pulled level in the 34th minute.
Good play from Jaiyesimi saw him find Jamie Mascoll who accelerated through the middle of the visitors defence and then produced a composed finish as he placed the ball low to the keeper's right.
Half Time 1-1
Dulwich opened the second half brightly and Mascoll had an early effort just off target. However, Dulwich couldn't make their early pressure tell and it was only good defending from Khan that averted a clear chance for the visitors, as he covered well behind the central defenders to snuff out a dangerous through pass.
Dulwich were in the ascendancy and Mascoll combined with Fernandes to set up Jaiyesimi but his effort was pushed wide. Matt Drage then ventured forward and exchanged passes with Hibbert before being dispossessed on the edge of the penalty area, whilst Fernandes showed quick feet but his effort was too high.
Fernandes had an effort deflected wide and Carew then had a free kick from some 25 yards brilliantly tipped around the post by Churchill in the Staines goal.
Carew then floated the ball on to the head of Waldren but again Churchill got down well to save.
With the game deep into added time and looking to be heading for a penalty shoot out, the ball was played up to the feet of Calum Willock who turned his marker and was sent crashing to the turf. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Ashley Carew stepped up to send Churchill the wrong way and Dulwich into the next round.
