Dulwich Hamlet Youth on wrong end of eleven goal thriller
The goals were flowing in yesterday's Football Conference Youth Alliance game at home to Maidstone United, just not all in the right direction.
The ASPIRE Academy coached Dulwich Hamlet Under 18s could have taken a massive step towards a third straight Football Conference Youth Alliance title when they entertained Maidstone United Blues yesterday but the young Stones had failed to read the script.
In a ding-dong battle the Dulwich Hamlet youngsters bagged five goals with Ade Batula claiming a second hat trick in as many days. Further goals came from Brian Testolin, adding another goal to his Sunday treble against Long Lane, and substitute Cristian Bucin. However the young Stones proved "You Can't Always Get What You Want" as they went one better, finding the back of the SIX times!
Still the result was not as damaging to title hopes as it could have been with one of the Hamlet's three remaining rivals for the title, Crystal Palace dropping points in a 1-1 draw away to Three Bridges. Fulham (Sedgehill) and Charlton Athletic Trust are the only other teams harbouring hopes of overhauling the Hamlet and with Dulwich Hamlet entertaining the young Addicks before three games on the road the destination of the silverware might be decided sooner rather than later.
