Gavin starts to re-build for the new season
While keeping his cards close to his chest, Gavin Rose spoke to the press about his squad for the coming campaign
He chatted to the 'Southwark News', for an article that was published in today's edition of our local newspaper:
Rose to freshen things up
Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose will be bringing in new faces to Champion Hill as he seeks to push for promotion next season.
His squad are due to come together on July 1 for pre-season training but Rose will finalise the bulk of those who will be involved this week, and new names are set to feature.
He told the News: “We are finalising our squad for pre-season right now and we are still speaking to some players in terms of contracts and other things.”
Rose added: “There will be some changes this year and a few new faces in the squad.”
The Hamlet gaffer is expected to formally announce who will make the cut this week, but whoever comes in will have to fit in with the well established passing style he and his coaching staff have developed at Champion Hill.
Rose said: “There will be no change of ethos, some guys will come into the squad from other clubs but there will also be promotion from within [from the club’s academy] and maybe it is time for them to make a shirt their own.”
But it will not be a total cull of the squad who secured promotion from the Ryman League South and narrowly missed out of the play-offs last campaign.
“Some players will be staying on from last year,” Rose said. “But this squad has been together for three years now, and some will naturally go whether that is because they will have offers or they are seeking a new challenge. Also as a management team we want to freshen things up a little as well.”
