Not decided where to watch the England game tonight?

Not decided where to watch the England game tonight?

Well there's only one choice for Hamlet fans...& you can help a great charity in the process!

Are you the type who would love to have a decent pint or two, watching a big football match down the pub, while suffering ‘withdrawal symptoms’ from The Hamlet during the World Cup this summer?

In an environment surrounded by your fellow knowledgeable Dulwich fans, safe in the knowledge you won’t get too much grief if you’re hoping for a Uruguay, whilst avoiding the inevitable ‘Sky TV’ generation of ‘armchair fans’ if England lose…then CHAMPION HILL is the ONLY place to be tonight!

For the bar is open for a great cause, the screens will be showing the England game, doors opening at seven, an hour before kick off, and EVERY PENNY raised through the door charge of a mere eight quid-cheaper than a Ryman League Premier Division match-goes to an extremely worthwhile charity, here’s some more info from the organisers:

" Fans and friends of Dulwich Hamlet FC are donning their oven gloves to host a special ‘bakeit!’ meets the World Cup event in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. The bar at Champion Hill will be opening its doors so fans can enjoy the England v Uruguay game, while eating homemade cakes and drinking locally brewed beer from Peckham based Brick Brewery. There will also be a raffle for a chance to win great prizes including season tickets for the new campaign at Champion Hill, and signed merchandise will be auctioned in aid of MND. Doors will be open from 7pm.
MNDA, founded in 1979 by a group of volunteers with experience of living with or caring for, someone with MND, relies solely on donations. All money raised at this event will provide vital support for people living with MND, their families and carers. It also enables the MND Association to continue research into finding a cure for the fatal disease, which affects up to 5,000 people in the UK at any one time. Half of those diagnosed with MND die within 14 months of diagnosis.

The event also represents a marked effort by the fans of Dulwich Hamlet FC, known affectionately as the "Rabble", to encourage more of the local community through the gates of Champion Hill next season. Fans have become more and more closely involved with community issues during the last season. For example, the Rabble created a colourful backdrop of noise and colour after one game last season, when they marched on mass to Brixton to show solidarity with the striking Brixton Ritzy cinema workers who were fighting to be paid the Living Wage.

Organiser, Suzanne Case, said “MND is a charity close to my heart. I lost my Mum to the disease in 2009, it robs you of your muscle function and over a period of 16 months she lost her ability to eat, speak and swallow. There is currently no cure. I hope as many as possible can come on 19 June or donate so that other families might not have to go through the pain of losing a loved one to this horrible disease”. Co-organiser and Dulwich Hamlet fan, Duncan Hart, said “I am delighted that Dulwich Hamlet has agreed to host this event for MND. It demonstrates the close connections between the club and the local area. I hope new people who come and watch the England game in the bar will return for the real thing on the pitch in August.”

Tickets are just £4 for those not on the Living Wage (i.e. £8.80 an hour) and £8 for all others (minimum donation to MND). Please buy tickets in advance from https://www.justgiving.com/suzanne-case and include your name and email address so confirmation and a ticket can be sent. If you can’t attend, you can still pledge your support by donating at the same place. "

It is an illness that can strike people from all walks of life. The most famous person is probably Stephen Hawking, and it struck down former England manager Don Revie.

It promises to a great night, whatever the score, whoever you support & it’s for a great cause, you can catch up with your fellow fans, and have a chinwag about all things Pink & Blue…even if the game doesn’t appeal to you.

See you there.
