Good write-ups in the Press
Last week the'South London Press' covered our opening two games in their editions
First of all, apologies for the delay in sharing them with you. I was too busy at work to type them up, then forgot my papers at work, so can only add them now, on my Monday lunchbreak, so they may seem a little dated.
In the midweek edition, from last Tuesday's 'South London Press', we bagged the main headline in the non-league column:
Dream start for Dulwich in Ryman Prem
Dulwich Hamlet made a dream start to life in the Ryman Premier Division with a 2-0 victory over pre-season title favourites Lowestoft Town.
Goals either side of half-time from Ellis Green and Erhun Oztumer, from the spot, sealed the points for the league's new boys in front of 542 people at Champion Hill. It was a mixed afternoon for Green, who was given his marching orders 10 minutes into the second half for retaliating to a foul challenge in midfield. Goalkeeper Phil Wilson saved a penalty from Lowestoft skipper Dan Gleeson in the opening minutes to keep the scores level early on. Wilson was responsible for keeping his side in it as he withstood an early barrage from the visitors.
The Hamlet played their first away game of the season against Hendon last night.
In their weekend edition, which was published on Friday, the 'South London Press' covered that match, as well as previewing our game from Saturday, against Metropolitan Police:
Dulwich to keep feet on ground
Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose is refusing to get carried away despite a terrific start for his side in their first season back in the Ryman Premier Division. Dulwich have won their opening two matches, first beating favourites Lowestoft Town on the opening day before a 2-1 win at Hendon on Monday, courtesy of a brace from Harry Ottaway.
"I don't go into any game with expectations so we just went into them trying our best to win," Rose said. "Obviously it's been a great start for us. Our long-term aim this season is consolidation as a minimum. It has taken us 12 years to get into this league so we don't want to be in a relegation scrap. Every game is tough so we don't want to get sidetracked by two positive results early on. We will have to work hard all season and show that our efforts last year were not in vain."
Hamlet visit Metropolitan Police tomorrow and could be a bit light in central defence. Peter Adeniyi is unavailable and Mark-Anthony Okoye is carrying an injury, but Rose hopes he may be back in time.
Winger Jerome Walker, a summer signing from Concord Rangers, picked up a hamstring injury against Hendon and will not be fit, but Karl Beckford, Xavier Vidal and Nyren Clunis may all be back in the squad.
"Nyren missed alot of pre-season but he needed a long rest and has rehabilitated," Rose explained. "I played for the Metropolitan Police under their manager Jim Cooper so I know they will be competitive. They are one of the league's better teams"
