GRRRR! CALAUM MARTIN JOINS THE YOUNG TIGERS
Calaum Martin is the latest to leave the Dulwich Hamlet production line for the bright lights of the Football League.
Another of Dulwich’s teenage talents has been spotted to move up to the big leagues after Hull City plucked the 19-year-old striker from Hamlet’s squad. Martin, who impressed after a trial up in the East Riding of Yorkshire, put pen to paper on an 18-month contract, and will go into the Tigers’ development squad.
Calaum who joined from Boreham Wood in the summer, made a total of 20 first team appearances for Dulwich Hamlet, the vast bulk of them as an impact substitute late in the game. His maiden goal came in extra time of the FA Cup Replay at home to Godalming and it proved vital as Dulwich eventually settled a tough tie on spot kicks.
Calaum also resented Antigua & Barbuda at Under 20 level and was recently been called up to the senior squad for a World Cup qualifying tie.
Speaking to the press Hull City manager Steve Bruce believes he has dug up a nugget saying: 'He’s been a breath of fresh air. We might just have unearthed a little gem.'
'Because I’m used to playing in a league where it’s very physical, it’s been good to come here where you get more time on the ball,' Calaum told the press.
'It’s been good to adapt to that.'
Everyone at Dulwich Hamlet wishes Calaum every success in his future career.
