Gavin Rose made three changes from Saturday's win over St Albans City, restoring Quade Taylor and Nyren Clunis to the starting side, bringing in Lewis White for his first start and relegating Yannis Ambroisine, Dominic Vose and Dipo Akinyemi to the bench, where David Ijaha also returned from illness.
In a game where chances were at a premium, it was the hosts who had the better of the opening half an hour. A tenth minute cross flashed across the Dulwich goal, with Jack Connors clearing at the far post.
However, there was very little excitement until the only goal arrived in the 17th minute. Sloppy play in midfield gave the ball away and it was slipped between the centre of the Hamlet defence for Sam Ashford to slot home.
Despite having the better of exchanges, the only other effort of note came from Sundire but his effort was too high.
Dulwich finally strung some passes together and could well have equalised before half time. A 34th minute corner caused confusion in the home defence but the ball struck Christian Smith and went inches wide.
Nyren Clunis then took aim from distance but, despite his effort being spilled by Beasant in the home goal , it was hacked clear. Lewis White and CHristian Smith both had efforts that whistled just wide.
Half Time 1-0
The home side seemed content to sit back and frustrate The Hamlet early in the second half. However, Dulwich should have levelled in the 52nd minute when a Jeffrey Monakana cross was misjudged by Aaron Barnes with the goal at his mercy.
The home side were rarely threatening in attack as they were content to frustrate Dulwich, although Ashley Maynard-Brewer was called into action witha routine save just past the hour.
There was controversy in the 66th minute when the ball fell to Danny Mills in the penalty area. He should have got a first time effort away but then tried to take it around the onrushing Beasant. The keeper appeared to impede the Dulwich striker who went down, but the referee deemed that Mills had been guilty of simulation and booked him.
Nyren Clunis flicked a header just wide from a Jack Connors cross before Maynard-Brewer produced a wonderful save in stoppage time.
Despite the constant attempts to slow the game down, there were only 4 added minutes and time ran out on The Hamlet's perfect start to the season.
Final Score 1-0
