It's 'Rhyme Time'!

It's 'Rhyme Time'!

One Hamlet fan has published his first poetry fanzine & it's on sale at the ground, proceeds to support the "12th Man" fund

A fan of over forty years standing, who was well-known throughout the late Eighties and the Nineties for producing the defunct independent Dulwich Hamlet supporters' fanzine 'Champion Hill Street Blues' is dipping his toe back into self-publishing from the terraces.

Mishi Morath, one of the contributors to this official Club website said:
" I used to enjoy poetry in my mid to late teens, and at the start of last year picked up a pen again, scribbling down my thoughts. Naturally, a lot of them are about football. And I've put one or two on here, as well as having the odd one appear in both the new Dulwich Hamlet fanzine 'The Moral Victory' & the fanzine of our German friends from Altona 93. It got me thinking that I'd like to share my work more, it's not brilliant stuff, but I like to think it's honest & from the heart. And it seems to go OK at some of the Open Mics I share them at across London. So I collated some of my football ones, and thought I'd try to sell some for a quid each, to help Shaun and Neil with their fundraising."

Mishi added: " It's nothing serious, just a bit of fun, and if people donate a quid for each one it'll raise a few bob. If I get rid of a few then I might do more editions, but broaden it, as not to include just my football ones".

It's called 'POWER TO THE PEOPLE' & you can get a copy tomorrow night, at home to Bury Town, from the "12th Man" stand for a donation, or from Mishi himself.

The fanzine consists of 24 A5 pages, and there are fourteen poems in it, with the contents being:

Page 1: Cover
Pages 2/3: Editorial & contents.
Page 4: “Grassroots”-about going to a game at Colliers Wood United.
Page 5: “Tea Break” about the lack of tea in the tea bar at Dulwich Hamlet.
Page 6: “The Real Thing” About watching a reserve team game at Cheshunt.
Page 7: “Piglets”-about young players who choose to play for the Metropolitan Police team, despite not being police themselves.
Pages 8/9:“Great Day” About my visit to Hamburg, to watch the Altona 93 fans tournament.

Pages 12/13: “Sticking The Footballing Boot In” about the anti-homophobia Rainbow Laces Day, with a number of Dulwich Hamlet players wearing them.
Pages 14/15: “Plastic Fan”- about Ged the Giraffe, an inflatable Dulwich Hamlet supporter!
Pages 16/17: “Burnley Boy” about the book’ Together Again’ by former Burnley player Willie Irvine; he played in the Sixties, the book was published in 2005.

So that's my own plug of my own poetry fanzine, on sale tomorrow night, for a pound if you're rich...if not just ask for one.
