Student Day on the way!
As part of Dulwich Hamlet's continued commitment to the local community all local students are being allowed in FREE against Bognor on 11th October.
Dulwich Hamlet are already extremely proud of having the widest ranging concessions be it for students; Over 60s; local NHS workers; the unwaged; blue light workers; serving members of the armed forces or young adults from 12 to 18 years old at only £4 per game...
But on Saturday 11th October, for our home Ryman League Premier Division match with Bognor Regis Town, we are pushing a joint initiative in conjunction with some of our student fans & working in tandem with Duncan Hart of the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust; to reach out to the new student community of South London to offer them a first chance to experience non-league football in London at no cost.
Dulwich Hamlet committee member Mishi Morath explained: "It's an idea we've had for a while. Lots of students come to and enjoy our matches already. The 'pull' being not just the quality football, but the cheap admission, lower priced quality beers than in pubs, and the great atmosphere generated on matchdays behind the goal. It's a million miles away from the sterile professional game, which they wouldn't be able to afford anyway."
He went on: " It's all part of our new 'Target a Thousand' aim, where we hope to build our home crowds to this average figure in the next three or fours years. It's not a 'plan' as such, more of an attainable dream. If we give enough people a 'free taster' of a home match I certainly believe quite a few will come back, and it's great that the Trust, marshalled by someone as enthusiastic as Duncan, is throwing his weight behind our Student Day initiative."
